Three Years Ago Valve Put Steam Into Beta For Linux, A Look At It All
8 Nov 2015 at 5:32 pm UTC

We still have developers making snide remarks about the platform only having "17 users" and silly things like that...
I'm still convinced it's because the Steam hardware survey undercounts Linux users. The survey says less than 2% are using Linux, yet many developers are reporting Linux sales at least twice that, some even as high as 10%. This is really a question of marketing, and it's my hope that with the official release of SteamOS, Valve will put some muscle behind promoting SteamOS/Linux to consumers and especially developers.

But that aside, I think it says quite a lot about the state of Linux gaming in the fact that I nuked my Windows partition some months back, and I don't miss it. 149 games in my Steam library; 104 of them Linux compatible.

Quoting: MGOidAnd lets hope that Valve will implement a better gamepad control scheme for their games, because using separate buttons to reload and open doors in a modern game is ridiculous.
I fail to see how that's ridiculous.

I got this free with my Steam Controller preorder, so it'll be nice to actually be able to play it.

AMD Radeon Software Crimson Driver Announced, Completely Redesigned From The Ground Up

Wow, that's the interface for Linux? I'm used to commericial Linux software (like nvidia-settings) looking barebones and ugly, so this is wonderful to see. Let's hope AMD is able to improve their drivers to point where they start seriously competing with Nvida in the Linux area.

Edit: Oh, I see this is Windows only. Ho hum.

I can't remember the last time I ever won anything like this (so it feels like a waste of time), and I know I'm opening myself up to a potential increase in spam, but what the hell, I entered. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Quoting: pd12It's on sale .. not sure if I want to get it, without knowing the "complete" state it's in ...
If you want to ensure it counts as a Linux sale then do not buy it until a Linux version is actually available.

"I know the service was slow, the food was unappetizing, and the waiter spit in your coffee, but please be as grateful as possible that you were served anything at all."

Yeah, how about no.
Then don't go into a restaurant that has a sign outside that says your not welcome, wait until the sign changes.
And how does this analogy apply to Larian who put up a sign on their Kickstarter page explicitly saying, "Linux users are welcome"?

Sorry, but they have treated us very poorly , so, no, I'm not going to be grateful when they finally get around to delivering on a two-year old promise, especially not with the way they've jerked us around.

Quoting: compholioI know a lot of people bought this game on the Linux promise, and it sucks that it has taken this long, but please be as grateful as possible when this comes out.

Quoting: Mountain ManStill not going to buy it until there's a steep discount... and maybe not even then. I've got too many games to catch-up on from developers who actually respect the Linux market.
Do you think they postponed the release for fun?
No, I don't think they did it for fun, but whatever their reasons, they have treated us very poorly and dishonestly.

Quoting: BillNyeTheBlackGuyOnce again you idiots on this site refuse to understand how businesses work.

But but but they promise. They promised nothing. Period.
I understand perfectly well that what Larian has done is not good business. You don't tell your customers, "We're going to do X!", take your customer's money for X, and then fail to deliver X. Not sure what you call that, but I call it bad business.
