I have 65 games in my GoG library, and I think I only bought like 10 of them. All the rest have been give aways.

The Linux market share still appears to be rising

If Linux keeps rising at this rate, it will become the majority desktop operating system in only 5 years.

Seems like I've heard that one before...

Keep up with Crusader Kings 3 info thanks to a new dev video

Quoting: eldaking...it is already on pre-sale elsewhere...
Doesn't really matter as far as Epic is concerned. I've seen games up for pre-sale on Steam only for Epic to suddenly work a deal with the publisher that pulls it from Steam despite the fact that customers had already bought it.

Beyond Blue gets a release date, Linux looks to be later

Quoting: CatKillerI am interested in this, but this statement is not promising:

When speaking to the developer E-Line Media about the Linux version they stated, "The production team is working out a plan that will launch Linux as soon as we are able.".
Two weeks from release and they don't yet have a plan for releasing on Linux.

Really they should have had Linux builds going throughout the development process, to more easily find Windows bugs if nothing else. This sounds quite a lot like they're going to wait a while after release (because release time is hectic for everyone) and then discover that it's toooo haaaard and throw their hands up in the air. As we've seen too many developers do in the past.

I hope I'm wrong.
I agree. Developers that focus on Windows first and then try to back their way into Linux after the project is done always run into problems.

Half-Life was going to get a Ravenholm spin-off

There is so much potential for expanding the Half-Life universe, but Valve has been inexplicably reluctant to capitalize on it.

Quoting: lqe5433Proton is too good. It's killing the Linux porting business.
Let's face it: While Linux gaming is in better shape than it has ever been in the history of the operating system, we're still an almost negligible sliver of the market.

Editorial - Linux Gaming's Ticking Clock

While I'm grateful that Wine/Proton allow me to play more games on Linux, I think my one misgiving is that while it helps Linux gaming, it doesn't help Linux overall. In fact, it gives developers another excuse to not target Linux even after it has long since proven itself to be a viable platform.

Microsoft president admits they were wrong on open source
16 May 2020 at 6:21 pm UTC

Quoting: randylThat is why Copy Left (GPL and the like) FOSS licensing is so important in my opinion. With FOSS they have to share improvements they use back with with the community and upstream projects. With Permissive OS (MIT and the like) licensing they do not.
Of course if Microsoft does happen to "borrow" from Copy Left projects, we would never know it because they'll never let anybody outside of their headquarters take a peek at their code.

Microsoft president admits they were wrong on open source

I don't trust Microsoft. Their response to open source has been a typical "embrace and extend" strategy. They're not trying to coexist with open source, they're trying to control it.
