Turns out Linux market share on Steam did not go back up in December

Quoting: BlackBloodRumIn my opinion the steam survey is a highly unreliable way to count Linux marketshare (as a whole).
It doesn't count overall Linux market share, nor is it intended to do so. It counts STEAM USERS ON LINUX and nothing else. Important distinction which a lot of people seem to miss.
What it's really counting is the percentage of people who were randomly selected and agree to be counted, which, considering how paranoid a lot of Linux users seem to be, is probably a very small percentage of Linux users on Steam.

Valve hands out VAC bans for having 'catbot' in your Linux username (updated: they're not)

Quoting: GuestGNU/Linux users can afford to ditch Valve. Something else would fill the void, quite easily.
It was literally decades before Valve filled the void in the first place. If we abandon Valve, how many more decades will we wait before someone else replaces them?

Yeah... I don't buy this. Someone got busted for using cheat software and is trying to fight it with a lame excuse.

Quoting: Sol33t303It feels like to me we are finally starting to catch up with Microsoft as at least for now all games that are releasing will be using D3D11 for the most part, hopefully, Vulkan becomes more popular than D3D12, but I doubt it personally.
Not with Microsoft continuing to dominate the home computer market and throwing its considerable weight behind DX12.

The Linux-powered Ataribox pre-order launch has been 'officially paused'

My guess is they ran out of money, and opening it up for pre-orders was their last-gasp effort to raise some capital to finish the project.

So just like a real cat.

What we need to think about, is preparing for the bubble bursting back in our favour.
The bumpy ride isn't over yet, in fact it is just beginning. Nintendo are being very kind to indie developers and encouraging them to port to the Switch. Quite a few indie devs are aiming their sites on that platform down to it being much less cluttered store front and it's dual purpose as a portable device, perfect for games such as Stardew valley. The switch (is it linux based ?)even got AAA PC title Doom albeit with reduced graphics using Vulkan.. Linux not in sight.

They are making bank and have a huge captive audience.
To be honest, the Switch is probably going to be my next big gaming purchase.

Linux market share on Steam drops again as Steam continues to grow

Linux lost fewer than OSX, so I guess that's good news. The bad news is that Windows gained our losses.

Quoting: TheSHEEEP...the series' biggest shortcomings - no AI diplomacy making single player almost entirely useless
Oh dear... perhaps I should remove it from my wishlist.
I play only single player and I enjoy it immensely. There is no AI diplomacy. Its a bit of a glaring omission, I'll be honest. On the other hand, I get the sense that most AI diplomacy is there to make the game easier. Every 4x I've played the Diplomacy aspect is easily exploitable and mainly serves to benefit solely the player as the AI can't compete.

Hope that helps you decide if you may want it or not.
Interesting point. I hadn't thought of it that way.
