This will be great for anyone who wants a 3rd party to have complete control over their access to games. At that point, you're not even renting. You are merely visiting the zoo, looking on from a distance at a caged animal which has lost all of it's freedom. Admittance fee? $20.

Because of the Linux version running poorly, for reasons I don't yet understand
I hope he one day finds peace with the free and platform-agnostic development process. This sounds to me like a symptom of cultivated developer lock-in succeeded as planned.

The problem is not 100% Canonical's decision. Consider also Valve's failure to build Steam for amd64, and the games industry (in general).
