The Steam Hardware Survey for December 2017 shows a reasonable increase for Linux

Quoting: LeopardI didn't get a single survey in 2017 , got one on 2016.
In my experience, you get them often if you constantly build and change computers, test hardware configurations, reinstall OSes. Something about big sweeping changes probably, but I could be wrong.

I have not abandoned Steam although they have been demoted to my #3 source of games after #1 GOG and #2 Itch.io. I hardly sign into it anymore, starting off the new year DRM-free.

Oh wow I just realized my source on AMD DC is over a year old. Looks like you're right. Now I await downstream. [External Link]

Hopefully, by the time this arrives downstream, AMD's DC code will be properly reworked for merge into mainline kernel.

Quoting: tmtvlUgh, still so many people using the crappy NVidia garbage. I suppose that'll change as Wayland becomes more prominent.

Wonder how many people are gonna switch from Intel to AMD after the IME stuff...
For some people it is games > freedom. Of course, on the AMD side of the coin, AMD forces their victims customers to install proprietary firmware-amd-graphics to be able to fully run their GPUs.

ARK: Survival Evolved works again on Linux, water still broken on some maps

Quoting: KetilPersonally I hate manual testing, but I think they should have spent a little time setting up an environment for automated testing. They can then write some simple tests to detect differences between the platforms. Water is broken? Setup a scene with the same textures and light settings and render it on all OSes. If it doesn't look the same or at least very similar, then you know it is still broken.
Their team appears to be primarily, disproportionately artists. Which would also explain a few other issues. Automated testing is the last thing on their minds.
