I'm really looking forward to giving this a go on my new setup. I can see everything all at once. Whether that's good or not has yet to be determined.

Unfortunately I've never really been into local multi-player. Usually I only ever play with friends online and I'm always a tad disappointed when a really fun looking game doesn't have online multiplayer.

Quoting: Avehicle7887If this means more modern titles to GOG, then it's still a win. I'd rather have more modern games than pay less, at the end they'll still be DRM-Free which is what I care about the most.I'm assuming by more modern you don't mean AAA because it'll be a cold day in hell when AAA devs release anything DRM free.

Quoting: CyrilTo be honest, given the fact that the skyrim DVD is just a steam installer and activation key and doesn't even contain the full game I would be really surprised to see them release a DRM free version.Quoting: ScooptaI like GOG but that's not the reason. I said a GOG release because all previous Elder Scrolls games are there, and right now Skyrim doesn't have a DRM-Free release.Quoting: CyrilI'd be surprised if a GOG release of Skyrim were to happen but maybe. Honestly I don't really see the appeal of GOG but that's just me.Quoting: ScooptaI know that, I didn't say that "it was a game". And I already used OpenMW with my GOG copy of Morrowind (and the DVD release too).Quoting: CyrilHoly fuck! :woot:That's not how OpenMW works. It's not a game, just an engine which is freely available however you have to have an original copy of the game as well for all the assets. With Morrowind I install the openmw package and go through setup, it asks me for the game disk and then it installs the assets from the original disk. You can also have it use an existing install folder if you got the game through steam. Point is it's not a game and will never be released like one.
When the time comes to get a fully playable Skyrim with this, i hope for a GOG release of the game.
When I said "with this", I was thinking about this principle, a open source cross-platform engine.
And I'm still hoping for a GOG release of Skyrim.
Sorry for being misunderstood.
Any DRM-Free release of the game would be nice (out of Steam I hope), but I think they would release it on GOG in first mind.
I don't think they would release it on Humble Bundle or "worst" itch.io... ^_^

Quoting: TheRiddickThe primary reason why I haven't bothered with AMD for past few years is because they don't really do much AIB at the high end anymore. For me the fact that their drivers are FOSS is infinitely more important than that although in fairness I have a full tower so size is really not of consequence to me.
No such thing as ie. AMD Vega ITX compatible cards, the partners just sell these HUGE megalith brick cards. Kinda disappointing. We don't all want house sized pc cases... lol

Quoting: appetrosyanFinally!I wouldn't say there's a power vacuum. People like to say that but AMD has always had cards equal to Nvidia's top. Well usually not the TIp top but the top. Bad pun. RX Vega 64 was pretty comparable to a 1080 and Radeon VII is pretty close to the 2080. That leaves Nvidia with one card on the high high end but I definitely wouldn't consider Vega or Radeon VII middle of the market
Intel has had an open source graphics stack long since AMD/ATI. If they can fit into the power vacuum left by AMD in the high end, and not let Ngreedya fill it in with more overpriced rock, I’m all for it.
I’d still much rather prefer a Risc V-sequel solution, that comes from a company that never abused the FOSS licenses and has no proprietary drivers, butintel is good enough.

If they can get Skyrim running in OpenMW they'll have literally replaced Proton for me.

Quoting: zimplex1This may be autistic, but I'll never pair anything by AMD with NVIDIA or Intel. Which is why both my CPU and GPU are AMD.Yeah I'm in the same boat right now. I've always had AMD and I really like their stuff especially seeing as their FOSS drivers are awesome. I'll never touch nvidia unless they have a serious change of heart regarding Linux and Intel is a maybe depending on how competitive the price to performance is. If I'm being honest though I don't see myself leaving team red anytime soon.
