I enjoyed playing this a few months ago. The beginnings of a great game.

I hope it grows into something substantial.

I remember this game having impressive world-building. Very atmospheric. The spell system was a challenge but I still enjoyed the game a lot.

Dark mysterious metroidvania Crowsworn is live on Kickstarter and flew past the goal

Quoting: xaviJust watching the trailer looks very nice but seems too similar to Hollow Knight.
Aw shucks. Someone copied some style from one of the best games of the last 5 years. That has never happened in the history of gaming. Gee... tell me again why they call this a metriodvania?

If they pull it off, all the power to them.

DOSBox-X and DOSBox Staging both had new releases lately

I have been using DOSBox Staging on both Linux and Mac for some ancient business software. Mainline DOSBox had kind of stagnated, so it is great that bugs are being actively hunted down again. Made a big difference to me, even though audio devices are not something I worry about :-)

HyperRogue turns the non-Euclidean roguelike into a VR experience and it's wild
6 Jun 2021 at 5:25 pm UTC

I don't have VR and usually don't like Rogue-likes, but this game is brilliant. The dev is constantly releasing updates.

For years, I worked hard to visualize non-euclidean geometries. The multiple visual modes in this game were completely worth the price for me.

I admit I haven't fired it up as much as I should, though. Maybe the dev can release a non-rogue type of game some day!

Beautifully drawn. I like the song on the trailer, too.

dystopian Vancouver, BC
This made me chuckle. Back when I lived there, Vancouver was probably the least dystopian city on the planet. Looks like the devs have changed that!

Hints appear of Valve making a handheld Steam "SteamPal" Neptune console

Quoting: GuestHow many games do you own on steam right now?
Does a bell ring?
780 games. None of which I have any interest in playing on a mobile platform.

I think Valve is pretty adventurous, and I wish them luck, but the probability that this device will outlast Stadia is about 50/50 in my book.

Hints appear of Valve making a handheld Steam "SteamPal" Neptune console

Then again, it could end up just being a Steam Controller 2 and these optimized games are just setup for it ready.
Yes, please bring me a new Steam Controller. I have no interest in a handheld gaming thing.

Everyone has smartphones that can play games and the switch is everywhere. What kind of minuscule niche would this live in?

Talking Point: how about a monthly Steam Game Pass from Valve
25 May 2021 at 6:05 pm UTC Likes: 1

Quoting: HoriAnd yes, I know Steam says they will take care of it if it comes to that, but that means absolutely zero.
If Steam shuts down forever, you can bet that Piracy will absolutely explode. Whether they know it or not, the game publishers desperately need Steam to keep going. Valve's invention of a low-friction legal marketplace was complete brilliance. Look at all the other storefronts to see what the world would have looked like without steam, and that is after steam heavily influenced them.

[Yes, GOG is also pretty good, but they only exist because publishers learned to be less scared of digital markets after working with Valve.]
