I see some confusion in here, people insisting about SteamOS being still in beta after years of development and keep waiting and wanting for that elusive stable release.
Well, SteamOS has a beta branch indeed (it always had) but it also had two stable releases already.
First one, SteamOS 1.0 Alchemist (based on Debian Wheezy) was released on 13 December 2013, and the current one SteamOS 2.0 Brewmaster (based on Debian Jessie) last updated on 30 November 2016.
And yes, it has a beta branch that was updated yesterday, update mentioned in this article.
Edit: typo

Quoting: liamdaweToxic posts often end up being voted up constantly (a major issue I have with reddit). I really don't think it's a system that works.Hear, hear.
There's another 'Life is Strange' on the way

Quoting: iplaygameswearingatuxThat was helpful, thanks :)Quoting: dubigrasuChrist people, would you just stop giving away that the ending is bad?The ending is actually quite good. No idea why some people don't like it. And the game itself is a great experience. I played through the entire game even after watching the ending on YouTube. Just start playing already!
While not entirely a spoiler, every-time I think about starting the game I know is gonna end bad like a weight standing above my head...enough already.

Ballistic Overkill updated as promised with Vulkan, but it's now completely broken (UPDATED with temp fix)

What I mean is it will take a while to overcome my laziness (and rebuild them).

Quoting: natewardawgAh, not that :)Quoting: dubigrasuI still have the projects yes, but it will probably take a while to rebuild them.It shouldn't take that long, all you need for rebaking the lighting is one of those new 16 core Ryzen 9 processors :p

Any chance you still have those projects setup and can run them in 5.6.1?Quoting: natewardawgHas anybody experience anything different with Unity builds?I have some older results:
Barring the obvious fact that the Unity Vulkan implementation has probably significantly changed since then, I suppose these also might give different results due to them being setup differently. The main difference off the top of my head is that neither of the projects I've mentioned have baked lighting, nor do they have static objects. Both games have fully dynamic objects and lighting. Neither of my projects has realtime GI either. I know at least for the second video you posted the project is also lit with realtime GI. These things might make a difference.
Of course I'll probably need to rebake the lighting and such, but I'm going to see if I can find these and do some tests myself as well :)

Serious Sam Fusion 2017 now has benchmark modes and more, here's some quick tests

Alas (at least on my hardware) one thing isn't yet fixed, namely lights on OpenGL.
I'd be curious if anyone can test (for example) Single Player > Campaign > Demo Palenque and check if shadows are present for both Vulkan and OpenGL.

Well, benchmarks are rarely 100% accurate, most of the time are only general scenarios where various elements/NPC/etc are acting at random. That's why plenty of runs are needed in order to extract an average you can use.
