The developers of 'EVERSPACE' are still working on the Linux version, seeking help from Epic Games

...massive flickering and shader precision issues...massive lighting issues when materials appear too dark or bright and everything is white...

I have a suspicion that they're testing their OpenGL build only on Windows, because the issues described look a lot like what I get from an UE4 project build (UE4 2013 GDC showcase Infiltrator) while running on Windows, with the same project running perfectly on Linux:

Now, the weird rendering on Windows is still an issue that needs to be fixed eventually, but a Linux build might work just fine.
Just as a side note; I'm wondering how many game developers tested the OpenGL builds only on their Windows machines, where probably they've failed and as a consequence they've declared a Linux build problematic. I've heard at least two times: I (we) don't have a Linux machine for testing. Really, how hard can it be to toss an Ubuntu on a spare drive?

I know, but it doesn't add more resolutions. What happens is that no matter what resolution I choose, and whether I choose fullscreen or not, it always switches the X server to a low resolution, then opens a window with a higher resolution and the game menu is only partially visible and cannot be used with the mouse.
Hm, I do have both ratios here...is probably the game itself screwing up the detection for your monitor. But you can (try to) use the "RunWinetricks" script inside the game folder to put Wine (winecfg) in virtual desktop (at your desired resolution) and start the game that way. Eventually after setting the res put it back on non-virtual desktop.

yes, but in safe mode, it only offers windowed 4:3 resolutions up to 1280x1024 and I couldn't change the settings to fullscreen and my native monitor resolution and it would suck to play this game in windowed mode.

Quoting: enzI hope that they not only release a Wine wrapper of their games once but also support them properly.

I bought Two Worlds and it worked well initially but after I needed to re-install it after a computer and Ubuntu upgrade, it no longer works because it starts up with a default resolution of 1600x1200, which is not supported by my monitor and leaves the computer in an unusable state.
Have you tried to adjust the resolution from the safe mode?

Quoting: GuestErr, it’s absolutely impossible to prevent games from updating on Steam, or have you found a secret method to do that?
You can make the appmanifest files read only.

Quoting: johndoe86xCould you tell me how you extracted this info, specifically the frametimes? I was wanting to do some comparisons like this for myself with my 980 Ti. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is unplayable for me on 375.20, but Rocket League seems to work without issue.
You can use voglperf or libframetime:

I'm glad they're keeping the same icon for Steam and SteamOS. This tells me that Valve still believes in SteamOS future.

Quoting: SeeKI have nvidia 375.20 running on 3 rigs here, no problems so far. Upgraded from nvidia-361, nvidia-367 and nvidia-370 and saw noticeable performance gains in all cases. Used the graphics-drivers ppa (nvidia-375).

Rig 1:  i7-4790K, EVGA GTX980,   kernel 4.8.0, nvidia-375, Mint 18, Cinnamon 3.2
Rig 2:  i7-6700K, EVGA GTX780Ti, kernel 4.8.0, nvidia-375, Mint 18, Cinnamon 3.2
Rig 3:  i7-4770K, MSI GTX980Ti,  kernel 4.8.0, nvidia-375, Mint 18, Cinnamon 3.2
Nice rigs:)

Quoting: SlickMcRunFast375 caused Valley to crash for me when loading a new level. Going from 375 to 370 fixed it.
Valley is crashing with a number of other nvidia drivers and it does the same on AMD hardware. Is the game's fault.
