In the multiplayer action game Foreskin Fury you get to hop around as a big wobbly penis

I wonder if they'll have to rename it to 'Foreskin Maiden' or somesuch. I mean, the dicks in the trailer seem to have lost their prepuces already, so they'd be giving grief to our foreskinned lad.

... yeah sorry I couldn't think of a clever pun.

I think also interesting to note is the fact that oreilly no longer sells ebooks themselves -- they used to have a drm-free marketplace with options from pdfs to DAISY formatted texts -- for ebooks, they redirect you to amazon nowadays. Instead, oreilly now has a subscription service.

So in order to get the 'old-fashioned' (?!) drm-free pdfs, the bundle is a good opportunity.

Just took a look at the books bundle: On the $15 tier there's 'Mastering Regular Expressions' by Jeffrey Friedl - it's a really great book (the paperback goes for $30+), I highly recommend it.

Quoting: slaapliedjeSo basically any online store would be subject to this, and that would be Microsoft, Apple, Google, Playsration, etc.
-- and not just games either; there's books, films, music, etc.

Quoting: TcheyToo bad it's going to be "historical", and not "mythological" with beasts, gods, etc.
Given how little we currently know about the historical event, I think their 'historical' account would end up being just Homer without the supernatural bits. (Not that my memory is at all fresh on this subject, but the supernatural bits in the Iliad are nowhere as fantastical as those in the Odyssey in any case.)

I think this article by Chris Hedges is pretty pertinent:
https://www.truthdig.com/articles/the-curse-of-moral-purity/ [External Link]

Now for those of you who aren't familiar with him, it doesn't get any more 'progressive' than Chris Hedges -- but see the point he makes about the obsession with moral purity.

Since the other day, the one issue brought up by critics that is at all RELEVANT to a call to Stallman's resignation was the allegation that through the years, he has been consistently driving people away from the community. I've heard this claim coming from people that I respect (e.g. Michael W. Lucas, great technical writer from the BSD universe, & novelist) -- but never in a form other than anecdotes & hearsay. Claims such as this demand more support -- now, I'm aware that this is a well abused principle, and often an excuse to 'blame the victim'; but still, one has to be more demanding. I'd love to see all manner of bullies & assholes (with or without the sexual abusiveness dimension) get their comeuppance; but the kind of simplistic thinking laid out so well by Chris Hedges is definitely not the way to achieve that. (For one thing, what he calls the 'curse of moral purity' is a breeding ground for ever new big-ego bullies & assholes.)

Quoting: Termyonly "downside" i noticed right now is that the contrast between installed/not installed games is not as clear as before.
I think what's puzzling at first is that there's a button for a second-order "playables" filter that's applied on top of other filters that are listed in a drop-down menu. I kept looking for an 'installed only' option in dropdowns, and realized that the button was there only afterwards.

They're lumping together (locally) 'installed' and 'streamable' under the category 'playable' ... which can be pretty 'telling' depending on the way you look at it.

Famed Computer Scientist Richard Stallman Described Epstein Victims As 'Entirely Willing'

What Stallman actually wrote:
Quoting: StallmanWe can imagine many scenarios, but the most plausible scenario is that she presented herself to him as entirely willing.

Assuming she was being coerced by Epstein, he would have had every reason to tell her to conceal that from most of his associates.
Exactly this discrepancy has been bothering me since yesterday -- on THIS SPECIFIC POINT there does indeed seem to be a mischaracterization.

I have a weird relationship with this game. I received it as a gift when it first came out; and enjoyed it quite a bit in that MUCH inferior state. After all the updates I'm curious as to how it plays; but I really can't justify putting time into it -- and besides, I'm really not that motivated to start all the way from the beginning, learn the crafting recipes again, etc. etc. I'll install it one of these days to check the graphics updates though.

Quoting: wvstolzingThis reminded me to check up on these guys: https://github.com/rwengine/openrw [External Link]
It's an open reimplementation of the GTA III-series engine; but they've been making *really* slow progress over the past 5-6 years.
More of active contributors are needed. Spreading word of the projects existence would probably help to gain some devs.
Absolutely; and sure enough, there was an article on OpenRW on GoL back in 2016: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/openrw-an-open-source-engine-for-grand-theft-auto-iii.7248
