NVIDIA have now made PhysX open source

If anyone was confused, like me, about this news, the earlier 'opening' (-not-really-though) of PhysX was this: https://developer.nvidia.com/physx-source-github [External Link] , when they made it available over github to 'registered developers'. (I don't know what the latter implies exactly.)

It looks like this time they're opening it up for good, under a BSD license.

Google's game streaming platform Project Stream is built on Linux and Vulkan
2 Dec 2018 at 1:02 pm UTC

One thing that might be worth remembering is that this is Google, who are notoriously flakey on certain types of project, and this 'game streaming' thing may be one of those. So I wouldn't be surprised if it just spontaneously evaporates after a while.

Nevertheless, this sounds like very good news for Vulkan, etc.

Feral Interactive are teasing another Linux port

Quoting: psycho_driverYou guys obviously have not watched much Dora the Explorer, where the phrase "Where are we going?" is sung in every episode. There's one episode in particular that features a pegasus. Therefore they're obviously working on an original IP:

Dora the Explorer: Pegasus Adventure
I'd like an original IP based on this [External Link], though. It's the first thing that I'm reminded of, when I hear 'Pegasus'.

Seriously, though, 'Flushing Point' can only point at Conker's Bad Fur Day [External Link].

Grab another glass, Wine 3.21 is now out with the usual assorted improvements and fixes

Quoting: ziabiceI'm very curious: anyone here has experienced running WINE on Android and ARM processor? Yes, I'm thinking about running games on my smartphone.
There's a commercial closed-source x86 emulator on ARM; their claims as to what they make available on the RPi are a little exaggerated(?!), though this is what the MagPi magazine has to say in a review of the 'product' -- including what they were able to get running via wine: https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/exagear-desktop-raspberry-pi-3-review/ [External Link]

x86 emulators on ARM are just starting to take off, though (to intel's chagrin); so the available options will likely change in the next few years.

No 'connect' games this time though; that's a bummer. I wish I could transfer my entire steam catalogue to GOG.

Quoting: ziabiceBig question: the Steam Controller is on sale too, I never used a gamepad in my life and a lot of games I own needs one, should I buy it or the Logitech F310? I want a plug'n'play experience with Steam, Proton and/or Wine, and Gog.

Thanks in advance for the advices! ;)
I'm happy with my F310; it's cheap & simple, not as good as a DS4, but it gets the job done. (I used to be KB/M only before getting a PS4; so these two are my only references.)

I've had a little difficulty getting it recognized in a couple of games over *streaming*, though (e.g. Assassin's Creed II). No issues (special settings etc.) with Wine.

(Streaming via Moonlight, that is. I don't remember Steam streaming causing an issue.)

Speaking about Half Life -- if there's anyone who hasn't yet played the two Portal games, they're also at 80% off (they're at $2 each). VERY highly recommended.

In totally unrelated news, I've just realized that Exapunks is now on GOG too. No discount though (there's a 'black friday' sale over there as well).
