Hardly used Lutris on Desktop. What would be really important for me is that it could store most data on SD. AppImage/Flatpak/MojoInstaller... who cares. As soon as it runs from ~/ I'm eager to try :)
EmuDeck makes emulation on Steam Deck nice and simple

I switched to ES for a reason, yet never had such a quick start at ES as this time. EmuDeck prepared the emulators and directories. ES found all games and sorted them correctly. Everything but the Steam-Version of Retroarch was automatically found (ES-DE dev is currently contacting RetroArch about better support)
In the end, everyone can choose and I never had a better retro experience before.
Did I mention CrazyTaxi2 on the deck is the best I've ever experienced it? It's sooooo good.

Quoting: scaineThis is incredible. I assumed that I'd be accessing emulation through desktop-mode and a kludgey-hack of Lutris and EmulationStation. But to have all that configured in the background and then show up as Steam collections - amazing.I partly agree, yet the 'non-steam' games section on your decks library is still filled with your roms. If you want to integrate anything else later, that's a big bummer.
Goddam, I can't wait to get my hands on a Deck. Is it Q2 yet???

EmuDeck helps with both SteamRomManager and EmulationStation.
Wrote a very crude tutorial and my reasons to use EmulationStation over SteamRomManager here: https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/tos7u7/emulationstation_has_made_an_appimage_for_the_deck/?ref=share&ref_source=link [External Link]
Feel free to ask for clarifications. I really enjoy the experience with ES :)

Point and Click Adventures trigger a very special place in my brain. It's just so different from playing any other kind of game. Am hardly kickstarting, but this time I might....

But, you know... gaming is about having fun.
Also, I can play the guitar, but damn, playing rockband in the right group is just crazy fun.

Quoting: scaineThat powerwash sim reminds me of the 2 hours I spent "playing" House Flipper, before I realised I'd be better spending my time actually painting and cleaning my own home. I went through the same thing with Guitar Hero - initially enjoyed it, then realised that the hours I'd have to spend playing it to move on to the next level, I'd be better off learning how to actually play a guitar! :grin:The time I play overcooked, I could actually get a better cook. The time I play SteamWorld Dig, I could actually dig for riches. The time I play Tropico, I could use to actually become El Presidente of a caribbean island. The time I play portal, I could work on a portal gun. The time I play Broforce, I could bring the world values by force...
I still can't play Freebird on my actual guitar right enough, but I can crank out some Iron Maiden with a bit of a warm up. And my house is reasonably tidy, so there's that.

I remember shared resources was supposed to be a big thing. Are Atelier series and Nioh 2 really the biggest titles that suffered from it?

Quoting: Purple Library GuyIt seems like quite a few games are having some work put into them to get Verified. I guess they're looking at it like a new platform that has so far fewer users, but significant potential . . . and they don't have to rewrite the whole damn game to get it working on the platform, just do a couple tweaks. No matter the perspective, the Deck is all about potential right now.

I remember how blender tried improving their engine by working on that squirrel game. Holy moly, that didn't go well.
Anyway, I fully understand why reference projects are necessary.
Wished Godot also did this, yet I'd rather have several reference demos for multiple genres then one *real* game for now. Working yourself through that 3DPlatformer Demo is already crazy input. Also, if a reference project is brought to Steam, it better has SteamInput, Cloud and Workshop integration for reference, too. That would certainly help developers.
Oh, and freaking document the architecture from all perspectives. So important.

Those 5 bucks to reserve one are certainly worth it. You may still decide to get them back any time, but I'd be surprised. This thing is getting better and better.

Quoting: Mountain ManI have almost decided to get a Steam Deck, but that's quite a chunk of change to throw down.I got mine on Monday and I feel like it was a steel. I'm really really happy with this device. I was in week 3 and a lot of the problems I heard of had already vanished before. The pace is just crazy.

Is there a way to globally set a button for push to talk? I realize I could just map one of the back-buttons, but that would be per-game, so kind of a bummer
