Apex Legends now broken on Steam Deck and Linux desktops (update: fixed)

When I look at reddit, I start to think labeling might actually not be that relevant. People will just whine whenever they don't get everything everytime and now.

Yet I guess, at some point, we will see more deck stati, where devs can actively show committment.
Maybe even agreeing to do the first-level support and only reroute to valve if the error is clearly in proton and can't be worked around. But I don't think the time is just yet. In Q4 enough units might be out, so devs will consider that button.

CD Projekt RED 'working closely with Valve' as The Witcher 3 is Steam Deck Verified

I own witcher 2+3 and never really played them. Certainly looking forward to try them again on my deck (just finished the real order *yay*)
Can I just start with witcher3 or should I go back to Witcher1 and walk through the series?
Anyway, very reassuring that CDPR is actually committed. Guess I'll go out of my way and order cyberpunk on next sale :D

My guess is they messed up their build pipeline. Things like that can happen when distribution of a package changes (like adding a library). We will see if they care and timely fix this. Wouldn't panic just yet.

Steam Deck Verified has issues, Grand Theft Auto V edition

Quoting: fagnerlnShame on R* to be honest.

But yeah, if a game has a launcher, it shouldn't be on "playable".
While they are certainly always annoying, not every launcher breaks the experience. Also, unless the launcher doesn't start, this is a solvable problem.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI've never really understood the point of launchers. I mean, normally, if you have a program that runs, that's that, right? You "launch" the program and it runs. So with some games, you instead launch a thing that then launches the program and then it runs, and what is this extra step supposed to be for?
1. Taking complexity out of the game, because the implementation gets cheaper
2. Checking prerequisites, updates, integrity
3. Control over users

If you wonder if 2 and 3 couldn't be solved in-game, see 1

It was clear from the start that Valve designed the verified programm to not depend on goodwill of publishers and we should clearly be glad they did it this way.
Maybe they need additional statuses, maybe we need a better feedback loop to identifiy titles that slipped through their testing and maybe they should have a reward system for devs/publishers that show they care.In the end, Valve want Proton robust enough that they hardly need help from the original developers and can stem everything on their side. That's a damn big goal, but it's the only way to make this platform succeed in the end.
Regarding HZD: I've heard a lot of people have similar issues with the game getting messy after some hours even on Windows.

Windows drivers roll out for Steam Deck but Valve won't support it

If valve doesn't provide a dual-boot friendly installer in a few weeks, someone from the community will. Goes without saying, I probably won't try windows, but I haven't invested in windows-only gaming.

Steam Deck update brings an FPS-only mode for the overlay

Quoting: lejimster
Quoting: BladePupperIs the FPS counter always white text or does it have a high contrast colour option like what the steam overlay has?
MangoHUD is extremely customizable. I'm not sure if the Deck's config files can be tweaked by GOverlay, if not you should be able to do it manually.
Accessing custom profiles from the steam overlay sounds like premium. On the other side, now that I see the default profiles quite often, I finally start to know where to look, so that would be a bummer for me, personally.

Can someone explain the Garfield Kart hype to me? Is it pure sarcasm or is this actually a good game or what is it?

Nice. Handelabra has quite some great boardgame adoptions I'd enjoy on the deck. Hopefully, they don't stop with this.
