Unique puzzle-adventure 'OneShot' now has a Linux build on itch

Just tried it and it worked for me. Installed it from client. Upon first start it asked me if I wanted to directly start after initializing the appimage and then it started in seconds. So far, I'm really impressed by the game. Thanks for making me aware of it. The bundle is just sooooo big :D

Just found that itch client can't start it again, but it's then in the startmenu.

I suddenly remember how PS1 made me stop playing games on console. :D

I agree that a game should be supported if it's officially sold. This developer doesn't care, so my humble choice was a miss, as I'm not even able to get a refund.

Anyway, outside of this specific case, I still wished we would encourage more developers to release native versions, at least as an unofficial beta. :)

I consinder myself a linux gamer since 2001. Before Steam for Linux, about every game developer using Unity was regularly asked to hit that button and let the community handle the rest. :D
And yes, this is an extreme case, but my argument was not related to this event alone.

Would you prefer that individual game devs became more tightly dependent on DirectX rather than developing their cross-platform skillset?
No, Vulkan renderers are awesome. My post was entirely around the fact that a big part of this community accepts developers that don't care about linux a lot more then those who at least give it a try but fail (for whatever reasons and not just this kind of extreme case). From the perspective of the developer, this raises the risk of entry enormously.
Microsoft doesn't need to bribe studios to stay away from linux. Members of this community do that job for free.
And it used to be very different.

I would have highly prefered had people asked the dev to move the linux build to a beta repo. The way it went, I am quite angry on the loud people who demanded the developer to remove the linux version all together. Switching to Proton is a matter of 2 clicks, but after removing the native version no one can use it any more. That's a decision loud people from the community have tailored and now those who have a different opinion can only live with.
Yes, with that atitute, we will only have proton in a few years. We are ok with developers ignoring the platform alltogether. We celebrate those that *even by luck* create good ports. We even celebrate those that ignore us but implement a Vulkan renderer.
But a developer who supported us for years doesn't release his newest title to linux or has issues to continue support?. Grab your forks.

But hey, maybe Valve will save us. Amazing community.

Wanted to buy it, but it demanded for me to give my full address. Quite unusual for a game download and it certainly drove me away for now.

This discussion clearly shows that it's awesome to have a choice :)

God, I hope not. KDE's interface needs some serious streamlining.
Too bad we don't have something more in the middle, instead we have KDE with an overabundance of options, and Gnome that stripped them all out and then started adding them back in.
KDE still hasn't fixed their email client either so it can properly work with Office365/Exchange.
And this is a gnome release, so the real question is: Which features did they remove? :D

Personally, I use gnome just for the gnome shell. The window overlay when pressing the "super" button has become second nature for me. Gnomes productivity applications on the other side are just not made for me. So I frankenstein my system with Thunar, Firefox and quite a lot of other applications that are :)
My main wish for Gnome would be to remove Evolution from their dependencies and replace it with interfaces, so one can plug in the calendar/mail of choice.

Haven't tried KDE for years. The problem with KDE for me has always been that the options/application preferences were never where I expected them to be .
Options I want to switch regularly were usually in a separate wizard dialogue while basic personal taste preferences that I only need to adjust once were accessible directly in the toolbar. Also, there are lots of GTK applications I couldn't find adequate alternatives for and using KDE with 90% GTK applications is kind of meh.
