Yeah screendoor is a issue. In all honestly I would probably wait for the 4k helmets anyway, one coming out later this year already (they advertise it as 8k but yeah, that's marketing BS). PIMAX is the brand. I'll wait for reviews. Not sure if a 1080ti is enough for it however...

Field of view: 110 degrees
When Vive gets a larger FOV such as 140+, then I'll be interested. My IRL FOV is quite high so 110 would look a bit like goggle vision for me.

You can over analysis it as much as you like, at the end of the day its in their rights to secure the copyright of their IP how they see fit. I've never had a major issue with any games or software I bought, and some have serious DRM security (Simplify3D is MAC based!).
I know there are some real bad examples of DRM implementation, but that is on the dev/pub. And often those games suffer in sales due to the extreme drm methods (such as using VM).

Software DRM still minimises potential software sale loses and is kinda needed if you have a popular multiplayer component because just look at what has happened to PUBG. Brought to its knees due to cheaters/hackers and if they couldn't sell those keys to those cheaters and they could just copy/paste the game indefinitely due to no DRM.... the developer would go under.
This extreme anti-drm movement is a bit silly IMO. There is a reason to have certain levels of DRM, its just when it goes too far is the problem!

DRM has its place. The only time when it becomes a problem is when publishers use multiple layers and virtualisation methods to do it that kill game performance. I think Ubisoft and MS have done this in the past, it doesn't pay off but they still try as they might, silly corporate CEO's and shareholders...

Did they resolve the Battleye compatibility issue? or are they just allowing linux players to connect without the need to authenticate (how many Mac and Linux users would write their own memory hacks to cheat? not much risk)

Looks so very much like Decent, not sure how it compares to decent underground but sounds and effects look more homage to Decent then DU. Probably better too,.
The situation with 'Underworld Ascendant' and Linux support is currently a little confusing

Hopefully they can get a Linux version done after initial windows released, not the best situation but its better then them trying during development, running out of money, then going belly up!

Seems it would be extremely reliant on other players and server population. What if your the only person around? do you just keep respawning as a baby and fend for yourself?

Xenonauts works well in WINE if you wish to use mods that may not comply with the Linux legacy builds, there is Xenonauts2 demo also but I don't know if Xenonauts2 is coming to Linux (it should given Unity3D is being used).
UNFORTUNATELY I have majority of these titles already.,
If you love traditional play-style of XCOM1/2 then you will love Xenonauts. I look forward to Xenonauts 2.
