Steam Deck 2 is absolutely coming, new booklet from Valve confirms
26 Aug 2022 at 10:29 am UTC Likes: 2

Well it will probably have the RDNA3 or RDNA3+ APU's on possibly 4nm process, they could do it on 5nm I guess.

But the real good news is it will likely be over 3TFLOP of graphical power so maybe a 1080p OLED this time around also since those are getting cheaper.

The SteamDeck 1 has a RDNA2 4core APU with a graphical powerhouse of 1.6-1.8 or something TFLOPS and 720p TN panel.

Quoting: AussieEeveeAnd yet Steam Deck 1 is still unavailable here :(
Just give up and wait for SD2.. I'm in Australia also and unless the SteamDeck gets discounted I'm not going to bother.

I'm starting to think Valve REALLY doesn't like AU/NZ for some reason... either that or middlemen at blocking its import. (just go via amazon, worked for Quest)

Steam Deck production better than expected, Q4 emails already going out

Really disappointed with the price increases (yet again) of the 40 series cards. 4090 is $1799USD! what the hell!

RDNA3 and RDNA3+ APU's on 5/4nm will be a REAL special time for handheld devices! Might start seeing some APU's come end of 2023.

Dead Cells price hike in Argentina & Turkey due to cross-region purchases
20 Aug 2022 at 12:09 am UTC

Not surprised. I know plenty of people who have Argentina steam accounts in order to get stuff dirt cheap.

I don't do it myself because I have a feeling eventually steam will put a IP lock in place..

I mean that is the only real way to solve the problem, but it does mean if you move outside of Argentina or disable your Argentina VPN then you loose access to your steam account.

It would suck. Which is why I've avoided it so far... I already had this problem in past when Russian copies of games would get removed from my account because it was detected I wasn't in Russia.

Quoting: GroganThere's also another side to this. Any Aussies here? I'll bet they have an opinion on regional pricing, they pay considerably more for digitally distributed games than North Americans and Europeans.
PS. I'm South Australia.. who pays $100A for a game? I guess that's 70USD, I might pay that for Bulder's Gate 3 like quality game!

We have stuff like G2A and such, pick up odd cheap game from there. Prices aren't always that bad for us on Steam. Wanted to get The Forest the other night, but $28AUD.. I think its like $1 in ARG or whatever.

YouTube thought my Steam Deck video was 'harmful and dangerous'

Dangerous and Harmful to Windows... can't have that!

I use odysee.com myself on occasion. It seems fine but you will find allot more right wing nuts on the platform, but such is life..

Peertube looks to be a library of content that has no categories unless you build it yourself. Easy to miss 90% of the content you may like on it.

Valve dev understandably not happy about glibc breaking Easy Anti-Cheat on Linux

All multiplayer games have anti-cheat software. So really, do we want linux to be the single player only game platform?

Easy Anti-Cheat not working on Linux? Seems a glibc update broke it

I can't really find the reason for why they removed this function from glibc (other then, its old and boring)

Developers just got bored and wanted to break something?

PS. Manjaro is basically ARCH with more safety wheels... (or restrictions/booby-traps if you like!)

W4 Games formed to help developers using Godot Engine
11 Aug 2022 at 5:11 am UTC

So this will be Godot but closed source for proprietary needs?

And yes SDK's shouldn't be closed at all. There are open-source licenses to protect such things from competitors stealing code.

And if everyone is open-source SDK it actually makes stealing each others code harder because well, you can see when its done rather then waiting for a whistle blower to sound the alarms from the inside...

Quoting: TheRiddickThey should add a option to SteamOS for Steam-Deck or handhelds where you can in compatibility section also choose OPTIMAL settings for specific fps, say options for 30/40/50 and 60fps which automatically apply specific optimized config files to the games with optimal presets. That be quite nice.
Why only SteamOS or Steam Deck? This seems useful on desktop too.
Mainly because desktop hardware can vary wildly so a preset that is designed for 120 or 144fps may only be viable on specific hardware configurations.

But these handhelds are all using 6800U chips or what not so its pretty predictable what hardware bracket their in.

Even steam-deck-2 will be 7600U-7800U like APU chip and will still target 60fps (hopefully 1080p)
