Valve warns about Steam Deck temperatures, plus a Deck Beta Update out
21 Jul 2022 at 2:58 am UTC

No hope of getting a Steam Deck if your an Australia. I know some BIG USA Streamers who are STILL waiting for theirs.

At this point I've just settled on waiting for Steam Deck 2 which will have a RDNA3 APU and likely twice the graphical power to boot.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II is out now with Linux support

Quoting: LeopardTheir Bards Tale port for Linux has an input bug that makes character run in a direction non stop for years. I've tried to reach them via multiple channels but they don't just don't respond.
You mean the newer bards tale V? I never experienced such a issue, thought it did have performance issues in areas.

I think the big issue is they made the Linux version use OpenGL instead of Vulkan which is a byproduct of using OLDER engine versions. Developers often struggle updating to newer engine versions especially when it involves moving graphics APIs.

I guess I better start learning UE5, along with Godot. Honestly the levels of procrastination I go through is staggering!

Hot swapping SD Cards on Steam Deck is okay but Valve plans improvements

Yeah make it so you hold down a button for 5seconds to unmount the SD. That be the easy way. Add some UI notifications when someone plugs in/out the SD so they get familiar with the process.

Tesla to demo Steam for more in-car gaming soon using Linux & Proton

Microsoft has been trying very hard lately to prevent machines from installing Linux natively via hidden bios options that most normies would have no clue about or even risk touching no matter how much they wish to try or move to Linux.

So any movement towards supporting more Linux and Proton stuff will be overall good in the long run for Linux as a echo-system; regardless of how much the extreme/hardcore workstation productivity users protest! (you know the ones that believe Linux is only for them and translation layers are the devil! Native or go home, we will bomb your house... those people...)

I've been mostly waiting for game to come out of EA.. Not sure if it ever will.

It's meant as a pre-cursor to a MUCH BIGGER classic/action RPG game which was shown off a eon ago. (it looked really good but I think its been mostly shelved until Examina is done...)

AYANEO to have their own AYANEO OS based on Linux

They also get parts made in Taiwan. But really if they did something bad with their OS version it be extremely easy to spot it unlike in Windows where backdoor malware can remain easily hidden.

GPD talk about 'cooperating' with Valve for SteamOS on their devices

The price of these third party handhelds is quite high (some of them cost more then top end laptop) and I don't think the 6800U APU is worth it even thought its on par with steam deck (basically same).

Also sad how they HARD push windows on these devices, like are you paying $100 on top for the windows license? how that work? I don't think MS give out free copies to companies!

I look forward to RDNA3 Zen4 and above APU's, those will be real interesting.

Unity to 'merge' with ironSource with a buzzword salad press release

I think really this will come down to the developers at the end of day. Just keep a close on Unity3D, I'm not sure what shady stuff they could do or use this for but if they start defaulting malware into things then yeah, jump ship time for many honest devs!

A wait and see situation.
