Quoting: TheSHEEEPThe code has already been done for SMAA (open source I believe) and it doesn't really chew anymore GPU/CPU power then FXAA. Trust me I've been using it and FXAA for many years analyzing it very closely in performance impact! It's just flat out better :)Quoting: TheRiddickWhy not SMAA? its superior!Because it is a lot harder to implement.
FXAA is a relatively simple post-effect, just blurring together neighboring pixels more or less. One of the reasons it makes stuff quite blurry and some prefer having no AA at all over FXAA.
SMAA is more involved, effectively "intelligently" smoothing edges instead of just blurring. But it also requires a lot more GPU power (and afaik CPU as well for the preparation?).
It is possible their graphics pipeline is not set up for that. Who knows.

I hope Valve can find a solution for DRM Anti-Cheat software,
I'm thinking maybe a application that is native to Linux can be made that links into proton via steam instead of translating it all within WINE itself which from what I understand basically posses a threat to a principle of what these Anti-Cheat tools are trying to do to begin with.
This might not be possible without Battleye's and EAC developers direct support at some level.
Surely Valve has the influence to make that happen however. (It should be noted that Battleye for Linux apparently exists, so it should be easy for that one, unknown about EasyAntiCheat however,.)

There are however a couple other programs you can use to stream steamVR to Quest which might have Linux releases. I have not checked them out yet.
Not sure if there is a way to get link cable working. I'm sure someone else knows more.

Quoting: gardotd426How do you get a quest working in Linux?Well you can't use Virtual Desktop since the developer said no plans for Linux release sadly.

Hmm, I wonder how well Alyx works under Linux with VR?
I've read its still a bit rough. Might need to give it a shot sometime, I tend to do virtual desktop with a Oculus Quest which somehow at this point in time looks better then the official link cable.

Quoting: gojulThe Skyrim windowed issue is still there. Running it with WINED3D works however.Be aware WINED3D is OLD wine directx method and nothing to do with Vulkan nor DXVK. So it will perform like poop!
