Nice, corporate culture has been a topic of discussion at work recently. Perhaps playing this expansion will help me develop better ideas around this.....

Lutris 0.4.21 is out to help you manage all your gaming needs on Linux
22 Oct 2018 at 4:14 pm UTC

Quoting: EhvisIt doesn't. But I did ask about something like that in the Lutris discord channel last week and it was agreed that an "update" feature would be a useful thing. So it may come at some point in the future.
Not sure how this would work, revisions could include a number of changes outside of just the wine version. The maintainer would need to probably write an update script separate from the install script. Would be a nice feature...although I'm sure it would break a lot of installs as well.

Canonical have released some statistics from the Ubuntu installer survey
20 Oct 2018 at 6:38 pm UTC

The steam survey seams to echo the findings on resolution, with around 5% of total users having > 1440p. I think the number skews a bit lower for linux primarily because hidpi support has been terrible for so long, beyond that 4k60 gaming on linux is just not feasible with current hardware, and the other portion of the population buying hi-res monitors are creatives who don't have access to the apps they need. Its a shame as I'm a huge fan of hidpi displays, and feel people don't know what they are missing out on.

Having said that, I'm sure theres a segment of gamers who use 4k TV's in their living rooms, and are not getting counted in these numbers as its not typically hooked up during these surveys.

Tropico 6 to launch in January 2019, Linux support still happening
16 Aug 2018 at 7:52 pm UTC

Tropico games have been consistently good IMO. While some releases feel a little iterative, it looks like there could be enough new in this one to justify another purchase :)

Albion Online developer explains why existing owners won't see a Steam key
29 Mar 2018 at 7:04 pm UTC

Thats a tough call on the dev's part if they are indeed locked into the steam wallet. Perhaps a compromise would be to clearly explain the challenge to the community and then offer steam keys by request only. If presented in this way I'd personally opt to keep the money in the devs pocket and forgo the steam key, I would guess a lot of other early adopters would as well.

Cel-shaded third-person shooter 'Crazy Justice' will have a Battle Royale mode and Linux support
28 Mar 2018 at 5:30 pm UTC

Might give this a shot if it releases with good linux support, I haven't really got into the battle Royale craze but based on its popularity I feel like I should try it out at least once :)

Quoting: GuestI guess I'll have to be the honest one. I absolutely love LIS but this game falls very short of it. As I said on my steam review, if you only liked the first one due to the lesbian innuendo then you will probably like this one. If you liked the first one for the story, characters etc then this one will probably disappoint. Seriously, there is not one thing about this game that is even close to being as good as LIS. Even Chloe's walk looks odd. Many times the dialogue is nonsensical.
I agree this falls short of the first release. Its shorter, less engaging, and not as well written as the first. This was a bit of a disappointment, however as a huge fan of LIS I thought it was worth while to spend some more time in that world. If you liked the first game there's a good chance you'll like this, just keep your expectations in check.

Microsoft is rumoured to be looking to buy Valve, EA and others
30 Jan 2018 at 9:37 pm UTC Likes: 2

The valve takeover seems pretty unlikely. Its a great company, but outside of potentially creating a path forward to moving people to the windows store it really doesn't align well with Microsofts business. EA on the other hand could help fix their lack of xbox exclusives and really provide a boost to their game subscription service. And in this case, I actually think theres an off chance Microsoft could make EA a less evil company.

Still, something this by MS and a huge commitment to gaming as a core part of their business, certainly an interesting rumour.
