Quoting: TheBossI have been able to do Linux to Linux streaming for a long time.
Then I guess I was missing something. I will get around to updating Steam and try again.

Quoting: HoriDoes the Nvidia acceleration thing increase performance when playing games on regular Steam for Linux?
I believe that this is just encoding support, which allows Steam to create a video stream, that can then be sent wherever. It should provide no performance improvements on anything else.

Quoting: minjI am not sure but IRRC the overlay checkbox you are talking about has been there since forever
He is referring to the empty checkbox in the top left corner. I don't believe that it was there before, but I could be wrong.

Quoting: TheBossIn home streaming has worked on Linux for a long time now.
Are you referring to the server or just the client? I know that you could stream from Windows to Mac and Linux, but I was under the impression that it would not work in any other configuration. See Here: http://store.steampowered.com/streaming/ [External Link] I tried this with my desktop and my laptop, both running Mint. While they detected one another, they would not connect.

So, does this mean In home streaming is working now? Or is this just groundwork?

SNOW, a CryEngine powered open-world winter sports game now on Linux & SteamOS

I will be checking this out once the main problems have been ironed out. Cryengine on Linux! Most of the problems so far seem to be limited to the Linux version, which is to be expected for the first port on this engine.

Quoting: megastheneswhat might those mysterious games be?
I'd say games based on Valve's Source engine. Maybe the first game to be updated will be Dota 2 (considering it's Valve's most played game [External Link].
There have been rumors going around about Left 4 dead 3.

I mentally tune it out. Keeps me sane.

I played that demo during a free weekend. It was pretty fun, even single-player. Sad to hear it isn't coming for a while. I recall the demo having some minor issues like with the menu and whatnot, but I've played many fully released games that were far worse.

GOL Asks: What have you been playing recently?

Been playing lots of Assault Android Cactus, alternating between mouse and keyboard and my Steam Controller. Still getting used to the controller, but I'm loving it so far. I got myself a gtx 950 coming, which should make about a dozen games playable. I did get Grid Autosport running at 800 x 600 lowest settings. First game I've seen that will stay fullscreen at that resolution. Very well made and well ported. Can't wait to play Shadow of Mordor.

Hand of Fate is a brilliant game, you should really give it a go on Linux & SteamOS

So, if I understand it right, this game is a sort of 3d action/adventure and digital card game mash up? So you can use cards you unlock to empower your character? That does sound pretty cool, but I'm rather turned of by the Early Access. It also doesn't look like it works the way I would want it to. Do the cards change with every level? Can you build a persistent deck that simply reshuffles with each level, or does everything reset with random cards? I keep imagining something between Shadow of Mordor and Yu Gi Oh, which sounds absolutely incredible. Or Digimon Tamers. Does the game have RPG elements? I just keep imagining the most amazing Action/RPG with card strategy. We need more of this kind of innovation.
