Quoting: jordicomaSorry, but I need a working prototype to believe that is comming.
Sadly we have seen to many companies that promised linux version only to get the money, and we had never got anything.
But I think that we can have a hight hope for this (hopefully).
The toybox works more then perfectly. https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/yooka-laylee-toybox-shows-that-yooka-laylee-should-have-no-problems-coming-to-linux-plus-new-trailer.7877

I talked to the developers at EGX and we talked a little about Linux and they said it was easy to export to Linux using unity, and even said "It's almost more work not to port to linux" then 2 devs looked at each other and where like "Kinda" but yeah they really want everyone to be able to play this game!

Black Mesa developer shoots down anti-Linux troll, confirms Linux version is in progress

Quoting: Al3sHow to not have heard of "meraco"? What a sad individual, I would love to have him doxxed.
He's steam level 0, so this is nothing more than a troll account with no games on it. He'd just create another and keep on doing what he's doing.

I personally just ignore trolls like this. I do not care, and as well as we won't influence a Developer much in his decision weather to port or not (because of our market share it's still rather an ideological question weather they want the game to be played by as many people or not - it's certainly in most cases no business decision), he will not have any impact with his comments anyway. I consider developers smart enough to make up their own mind, not caring for trolls like him.
Nah, I think he is a higher level but his account is just private which makes him look like a lvl0 with no games.

Feral Interactive are teasing another new Linux & Mac port with a new clue

I'd love it to be doom but I strongly think it isn't

Life Is Strange is coming to Linux & SteamOS by Feral Interactive
1 Jun 2016 at 12:17 pm UTC

The Mac version isn't coming to steam until a little bit after so I think Feral might have some agreement with Apple, or see it as a better strategy for them, bit unfortunate that if they're doing it that way, that they aren't putting LIS on the Gnome software store at the same time, but what you gonna do?

Motorsport Manager from SEGA and Playsport Games will come to Linux & SteamOS
18 May 2016 at 4:12 pm UTC Likes: 3

What SEGA's currently ported to Linux aren't really my type of games, but I strongly hope they continue because they have a massive catalogue of games that I do love, Sonic, Valkyria Chronicles, Jet set radio, typing of the dead, Nights into dreams, Binary Domain, crazy taxi, phantasy star, Anarchy reigns, Hatsune Miku, Vanquish, the list goes on and on.

I do hope they port over some of these games at some point, it is great to see a big publisher with games on the Linux platform, so I do hope linux keeps looking viable and they do focus more on getting games on to the Linux platform.

How to tell what Steam games work on Linux & SteamOS, steamplay does not mean Linux support

Theres a few problems with the icon situation.

The first one is that having more then one linux icon is redundant, can be confusing and can make things look cluttered.
The next issue is having it as the steam icon means that people who don't use Linux don’t really know what its about, all games on steam are steam games so in a way they should all have that icon, but for people with a steam machine, the icon makes sense, you have a steam machine so you look for the steam icon because that works on your steam machine.

If you change the logo to a penguin you suddenly have to explain that the linux icon is what the icon that means you can play it on the steam machine, at that point you can be like "Ok have a steamOS icon and a linux penguin" in which, what about new Ubuntu users who are looking for that ubuntu icon, or mint icon, and then its going out of hand..

I think perhaps the best idea would be to detect your os, Steam does that automatically anyways so why not have it so that if you're running steamOS it shows you a steam icon, and if you're running on one of the most popular distros, steam show you your distro logo, and if you're on anything else, show both tux and steamOS, or either or?

You can search the store by linux games and when you know that the steam icon means it works on Linux you're good on that side, the biggest issue I'd say would be figuring out what games you have work on Linux, if you're using linux its easy to see what games are linux but on windows not so much, so people wanting to figure out which of there games are linux or not linux have to go to each individual game store page, which is just hassle...

Looking for Linux Gaming communities on your favourite services? Got you covered

Quoting: Shmerldiaspora* already has XMPP support for local chat. "Groups" functionality can be emulated by using tags. Something like explicit groups could be useful though.
Not in diasp.eu yet, I only know 2 pods that have it currently, and group chats dont serve the same purpose as group pages, but they both complement each other.

Quoting: ShmerlHm. I wouldn't recommend Telegram to privacy concerned. Its server isn't FOSS.

May be there should be some presence on diaspora*? https://diasporafoundation.org [External Link]

Also, in addition to IRC it's good to have an XMPP chat room.
I do like Diaspora, Just lack of users and features, theres no groups so theres no hub for people who like certain types of things.

If the tech people on G+ switched to Diaspora and when Diaspora gains XMPP, I'd probably not use G+ except to talk to 2 people.

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger may come to Linux and Mac depending on Windows sales
25 Mar 2016 at 1:21 pm UTC

Knowing the studio I do think its money
The games on early access because of money
They want to make TY 2 but it depends how well TY1 sells.
They've also mentioned that they wanted to do sly dlc spin of but sales never backed it up.

To me it seems like they want to do a Linux and Mac version, they've done a little preop with making it OpenGL, they've replied very openly to tweets requesting a bit of demand to see if its worth it, and have liked many of the tweets mentioning Linux, so i honestly think they're concerned about money.
