If Vulkan is almost the same as Dx12 how close is vulkan to old versions of DX? dx11, 10 and 9? if they're all close it could mean that older popular games are much more likely to be made for linux.

I just dont see how/why dx12 would take off other then if it proves better fps right now, but that will be out done over time.

Quoting: KimyrielleGlad to hear that. Particularly the part when Vulkan and DX12 are similar enough to support both. Not sure why game devs would want to support two rendering paths when one of the already is supporting every single platform they could possibly want to support in the long run, but it means that existing DX skills are easily transferable to Vulkan, which from a business perspective is awesome to hear coming from a dev.Thats something I thought, Vulkens gonna work on everything so why would you ever use DX12 over Vulken, especially in the long run, but something great about it is that if people do use dx12 it means if they ever choose to move to Vulken it wont as difficult as it used to be from dx11 to other alternatives.

Shame I already bought it at Christmas as my friend got me the first episode, I borrowed my mums laptop and couldn't stop playing, It was also a game I never thought would come to Linux.
The game is amazing in my opinion and loved it to the end.

Quoting: kuroI have no idea about the exclusivity deal with microsoft but I know its published by microsoft studios, but microsoft studios have also published Dust an elysian Tail, Mark of the ninja and insanely twisted shadow planet on Linux, so I feel it may be a possibility, be it a small one.Quoting: ChloeWolfieGirlI feel like its more likely Ori and the blind forest, though I cant really understand the image they show, people in the comments say it looks like space, if so Ori and the Blind forest is made by moon studio, and the character also looks like a little fox, F-foxy, Forest Fox?I don't think so. The developers of "Ori and the blind forest" have an exclusive deal with microsoft to publish it only on Microsoft OS.
Sry I can't remember where I red that article. Maybe it was on this site.
I devinetly would have bought it if it released on Lunix/SteamOS.
Another sry to make your dream bubble goes pop.

All they need to do now is by default block installing apps from the internet and do something stupid to make it so steam doesn't work and I'm sure that if you have the majority of games on your steam working with Linux you'd make the switch.
Then again, I don't know Windows gets away with WAY to much, we still need linux in stores, I think if people saw Ubuntu in pc shops they'd begin to see it as a viable alternative but until then its just some indie thing that wont work as well as windows and is complicated to install and what if things go wrong, in main stream minds, we need more big people showing care for linux, like Tek Syndicate, they havent done enough with it, and havent pushed it that much tbh, but they've mentioned it a few times, so I hope they start pushing it harsher.

Quoting: ricki42The Windows store is even more restrictive than just no cross-buy. Apparently at least currently there'sI dont think PC gamers will accept the windows store, but I don't think they'll try to jump to Linux or anything I think they'll just try and ignore the windows store, I do hope they keep doing stupid things. like with windows 10 at the start of installation, you have to block ip addresses of spyware, then you have to switch off ad's on the homescreen, try to turn off auto updates, then you have to go out and track down to install the majority of your apps...
* no SLI support
* Vsync is always on, g-sync/freesync doesn't work
* no overlays
* no .exe files, thus also no modding
* no overlays
* always borderless fullscreen
* no controllers other than the x-box controller
I just hope even many Windows gamers will draw the line at this point and not buy into this. At least a lot of people still remember GFWL and are skeptical.

If Microsoft let the games come to both windows store and steam then they wouldn't have backlash, but people would buy the games on the windows store because they can play the games on both there pc and xbox one, if steam machines where as popular as the xbox one this wouldn't be an issue, you just show people with steam machines ubuntu and then they get pretty much the same thing as xbox one and pc with the windows store.
If they play for exclusives now they'll get backlashes, if they wait they probably wont...

What game would you most like to see on Linux this year?

Luckily we have Yooka Laylee coming but that'll be out closer to Christmas, but hey, made by the people who made banjo kazooie so it should be great.
For Japanese games, Spike Chunsoft released Danganronpa for Linux, Disgaea 1 for Windows, its just convincing some of these to come to linux but if Spike Chunsoft releases games for Linux and they say its going well I'm sure some others may follow, so while I don't keep strong hope for Disgaea and Nis, I dont give up hope for it.

Quoting: GuestMore console-style games such as 3D platformers (Banjo-Kazooie, Sly Cooper, Ratchet & Clank, etc)100% agree, the lack of native 3d performers is one thing that made me lack care for the pc gaming space, that and japanese titles, Mario, Jak and daxter, ratchet and clank, spyro, Sonic the hedgehog they where my childhood, (Sonic I'm a bit to much of a fan off, I obsessed with him when I was between 13-17, and honestly you dont want to know how many hours I'd have spent on Sonic Adventure and Sonic adventure 2 if they came to linux) and many other games of cause, klonoa but thats 2.5d still more then amazing.

I feel like its more likely Ori and the blind forest, though I cant really understand the image they show, people in the comments say it looks like space, if so Ori and the Blind forest is made by moon studio, and the character also looks like a little fox, F-foxy, Forest Fox?
I'd rather it be final fantasy and I don't think feral would be working on an indie game after a lot of there titles they've worked on, but that seems like a possibility, even if it is unlikely.

Quoting: NyamiouF-Foxy -> Final Fantasy. Way more interesting than Five Nights at Freddy's and actually fits the picture (anime-style eye and nose of a small black and white furry creature).That sounds more like a dream then a possibility, but then again, street fighter v is coming out on Linux so maybe..
