At least they had offered refund for bakers when Linux was cancelled. ;)
Which in the end means nothing more than that they used the Linux backers to get an interest-free loan.

Not like you can blame them though of course. They have a business to run, regardless of how passionate they are about ideals. If I was put in the position of dropping 2-3% of my sales in order to instantly gain masses of capital? It's a no-brainer. People have families to feed, jobs to secure.
I think it is pretty short sighted. Sure, they get a bunch of money now, but they not only dropped Linux sales, but also the sales of Windows gamers that won't buy Epic exclusives and maybe even put the company on their blacklist of publishers not to buy games from. In the long run, this may amount to more losses than they gained with a one time payment from Epic.

Quoting: slapinIf Epic supported Linux I'd be fine with their marketing policy. Now what they do is remove nice games from Linux support, which makes me sad and makes me hate Epic store with all my soul. Otherwise I do not care.
The only reason Epic can give the publishers a bigger share is because they invest next to nothing into their platform. No forums, support, workshop for mod support, ... .
Valve, on the other hand, is not only making all the investments to make their platform a better place, they also improve game development by developing tools like OpenGL debuggers or supporting the development of open source graphics drivers.
Unless that doesn't change, I will always prefer Steam and not buy anything from the Epic store.

If it is USB 3 that shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I think I will give Vaporum a try once I am done with Pillars of Eternity 2.

Vaporum looks nice, but sadly the combat system is in real-time. Does anybody know of a decent single-player single-character dungeon crawler with turn-based combat?

The developer of Helium Rain gave an update on their sales, low overall sales but a high Linux percentage

I think the lack of sales so far is caused by the game not being advertised enough. Before I read here about the game a few months ago I never even heard of it, and since then I haven't seen it advertised anywhere or at least mentioned in one of the gaming magazines. They seriously should consider ramping up their marketing.

An interview with the developer of space sim Helium Rain who says ‘Linux gaming is alive and well’

A Linux supporting developer that closely interacts with the community. Now that is something I support, and I love space sims anyway, so I just bought the game.
Thanks, Stranger, to you and your team for your support.

Even though I own the "classic" version with all addons and extra modules, this will be an instant buy. And if existing mods are compatible then the editor shouldn't be an issue, the original game works fine with Wine (never really got the Linux version to work properly on modern distros, but then, I haven't really tried), so I suspect the editor will work, too.

The open source recreation of Daggerfall hits an important milestone

The main advantage of open-source is that you can change the source if you don't like what it does.
So, where exactly is the problem here? The project is open source, if you don't like what it does either change it, or, if the current maintainers don't want your changes, fork it and then change it how you see fit.

The very fact that you actually can do this is in itself all the evidence you need to call it open source.
If it weren't, you would have to follow through and tell any open source program that currently only has a Windows version and uses the Win32-API (or XAML/WPF, or whatever else) that they aren't an open source project.
