I think Unity doesn't fit several freedoms from the expected list. I.e. run it as you wish (for example can you just build it for Android, or they require special license?), and freedoms of modification and re-distribution. Otherwise it would have been a FOSS engine.

You need a special license for source code access, but other than that, Unity Free can be used for all supported platforms (including Android), unless the project makes more than $100.000 a year in gross revenues: http://download.unity3d.com/company/legal/eula [External Link]

Despite all the shortcomings you describe I followed the game on Steam, in hope that it some day will become the "Dwarf Fortress Light" I really would like to see.

I was playing Victor Vran. While I expected it to be a little more RPG, it still is a very good game and I really like it.

Here in Germany, if you advertise a product (like, a game) with features (like, Linux support) it doesn't have, it is punishable by law. Not that I encourage anyone to sue the developers, but aren't there Steam or GOG guidelines that should prevent this stuff from happening?

You really think they will suddenly pull it a day before release? :huh:

Who knows? They promised a released of Story Mode in early 2014, then it was shifted to end of 2015, then it was shifted to spring of 2016. In spring 2016, they finally were fed up with people asking them for a release date and why once again there was a promise but no release, and they shifted to "when it is 100% done, we won't tell you release dates anymore".

I bought the game for the story mode, yet they failed to release over and over again.

So, yes, I have a perfectly fine reason to say "I will believe it when I see it". I wouldn't even be waiting for this, if Steams refund policy wasn't "oh, you are waiting more than 14 days for the promised story mode, sorry, we won't refund a game you own for such a long time".

They are not yet listed as Linux games, but through Serious Sam Fusion 2017 Beta available for our OS nonetheless: The Serious Sam HD games are also on sale, you can get all of them in a bundle for only 3.73€.
