Insurgency: Sandstorm no longer getting Linux/Mac support or a campaign mode

Quoting: Lord_PhoenixTruly have to be new moto from now on... Given current pace I don't think we'll see any AAA games natively on Linux any time soon.

Such a shame...
Just don't forget the ones we have gotten! Bioshock: Infinite, the Tomb Raider games, the Warhammer and Total War games, the list goes on.

we apologize for mismanaging expectations
It's more like illegal advertising, right? Their plea for forgiveness is for us to buy their next game and see how they've learned from their mistakes. They should be offering refunds. Whether a game contains a campaign or not is a pretty core feature and one that steers my buying decision.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPGiven how much they cancelled, though, it seems to me this project is pretty much doomed, Linux or not.
Don't know of too many titles that had to cut so much stuff and then became a success.
That was my first thought as well. Does this game rely on community servers, or does the developer have to keep servers running? Hopefully, the game's financial stability isn't directly tied to the game staying playable.

Overall, I'm very disappointed. I see one of my Windows buddies play this game every now and then. We've played regular Insurgency many hours, but I can't join him in Sandstorm. I've waited a long time just to reach this sad+angry conclusion.

Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition continues advancing, cross-play with consoles now up

Well, that is a bummer about Infinite Dungeons. I've never played it, but it always stinks to run into a brick wall that doesn't have anything on the other side.

NVIDIA presenting a talk at GTC 2020 about Linux drivers and possibly some open source news
7 Dec 2019 at 4:28 am UTC

Take what I say here as an educated guess but not a prophecy:

NVIDIA is not going to do anything with the gaming drivers or firmware. They are going to make it easier to use their NVIDIA cards in machine learning deployments, like "the cloud" and companies with their own data centers... you know, the kind of stuff hackers can rent for 24 hours to crack a DB full of credentials... oh yeah, and more appropriate things like Audi driver aids.

Roadwarden, an upcoming illustrated text-based exploration fantasy RPG with a Linux demo

I want this. It's like a more accessible MUD but only single-player. Will definitely get it on itch if they release there and not just the demo.

Aquiris Game Studio ending support for their online FPS Ballistic Overkill

Ah, this is a bummer. I've played it several times, but my friends never bought it, so I didn't play it very often... like once a month. I don't know what turned them off about it.

It's already possible to play Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Linux with Steam Play
6 Dec 2019 at 3:06 am UTC Likes: 2

If memory serves...

Halo 1 was the greatest
Halo 2 was great despite how annoying it was to play as a particular character a lot
Halo 3 was good but not great
Halo ODST - not sure I even finished this one. Not memorable
Halo Reach I know I played but can't remember if I beat it. If rkfg says it was only 7 hours, then I probably did.
Halo 4 was excellent! I remember thinking 343 Studios did the series justice. Better than 3, maybe better than 2.

I have not played Halo 5 still. I'll have to ask around to see if my buddies would want to pay sometime on their system. Man, I used to love Halo, but I haven't had an Xbox for quite a few years.

The gist of this post was supposed to say don't judge the series by Reach. :)

Looks like a lot of fun. I can't help but think that it's like real-time Worms!
