Quoting: NanobangUnfortunately, 4.11-10 messed up something with Borderlands 2 for me. Whilst Nvidia reported FPS around 120, it kinda looked as if every other frame was being displayed---jumpy, not smooth. Most disconcerting was the way a frame would flash on the screen from an entirely different sequence altogether, like a menu frame while running through Sanctuary or something.Does it run better under Proton or something? Borderlands 2 is a native game.
Rolling back to 4.2-9 fixed it right up. Would this sort of regression be best reported to the Proton github page, or should I just assume it'll get fixed up on a later iteration? Or maybe I'll just lock Borderlands 2 to 4.2-9 and call it good.

I can't believe I'm thinking about buying Halo to play on Linux and be able to do co-op!

This is a sweet, huge list! I'll be referring back to this throughout 2020 I think. Thanks for putting it together.

Huh, I read the blog. I didn't know MacOS was getting that controlled. There's something to be said for being different and sticking to it. And Apple seems like they don't care about gaming or the corporate world. I don't know... seems like their targeted audience is getting smaller and smaller. And their hardware is stale on all fronts to boot. I wouldn't be betting on them right now.

Quoting: GuestExactly. Someone just told me about this problem and how they were going to downgrade their MacOS! It seemed absurd, but the person is a gamer and artist and can't go without a few of their most-used applications. Sounds to me like Mac might not be a solution anymore in this case. That would be terribly frustrating.Quoting: Purple Library GuyInteresting asterisk on the systems supported. It supports MacOS, but only "10.14 or older". I've never seen that before; I wonder why. That's actually pretty old as far as I can tell. Not that it matters to us, but it made me curious.Probably something to do with the fact that 10.15 drops 32 bits support. And 10.14 was released on September 24, 2018 so it's not that old.

Quoting: peta77Also noticed it uses lots of VRAM (at 4K and set to highest quality nvidia-smi reported a usage of 6.5GB of video memory!); on largest map size though. But when having enough memory it runs good, interaction is very smooth.Unused memory is wasted money! :D

Anyone here played Pathfinder and really liked it? It's only $16 right now [External Link]. How does it compare to Pillars of the Earth as far as pacing and difficulty go? I like Pillars, but it feels like a large commitment to sit down and play it, so it's taking me forever to get through it. Instead, I've been playing other games that have no end like WoW and Oxygen Not Included. (Maybe I just need to swallow my pride and set the difficulty down to Easy and play through the story.)

Quoting: morbiusAlways liked GOG, but sadly, even their new beta client doesn't have a Linux version. It's not likely the platform will ever come to Linux.Yeah, I like GOG, but it feels like a one-way relationship. :| These days, I wish itch.io got more attention from publishers.

This could be quite good. I hope I don't have to cringe at ugly world textures after it's released. Gameplay is absolutely most important, yet with so much competition for my free time, it's nice when the game looks new, too. The main character model and animation looked fine in the August video to me. Some of the world graphics were bad.
The gameplay styles they talk about are right up my alley. Like I said, this could be quite good!

Quoting: TcheyWhile playing Vintage Story, i think i can never go back to Minecraft (played it before release, when it was still an "alpha").Hmm... thanks for mentioning this one. I don't think I've ever seen this game before. I'll have to give it a shot!
Quoting: Pival81These new bees are an insult to the absolute perfection that are Forestry bees.I also had never seen this mod for Minecraft. I have thus far avoided mods because I don't want to deal with the tedium. I have long been a server guy in my IT career and I tinker enough with stuff at home as it is. I kinda grimace when I think about adding mod maintenance onto the already multiple Minecraft clients and server instances in the house! All that said, I know one of my kids would really like a mod like this where you're working with nature. Is it dead though? Last real release was three years ago. Latest beta release was over a year ago.
Change my mind.

I'm torn. I already spent a lot the last couple weeks. I want Surviving Mars with the Green Planet DLC. I already have just vanilla Cities: Skylines. This would be a great deal to get Mars and a bunch of DLC. But... ugh, I think I need an expense break. :'(
