Things are going downhill for the Atari VCS as Rob Wyatt quits

Quoting: KohlyKohlThis is why I will never back anything before a final product has been released.
If it was a true investment model, like you earn a share of profits for X amount of time after release, would you feel the same? The typical crowd sourcing we see today for video games is a strange charity. I have done it, but it's still strange.

Looks pretty neat.

I also think driving could be automated. There are other aspects of technology I'm more leery about, like information gathering, removal of choice, and simulated guidance (ie. stores without sales people). A human can hear my voice and see my eyes -- read my body language -- like no machine. And I can do the same to them.

This will be very interesting. I predict they will be more expensive than their competition.

This looks pretty neat. At first, I was picturing a game that could be played cooperatively, but, after seeing the trailer, I don't know that that would work out very well.

Keep an eye on 'Veloren', an open source multiplayer voxel RPG written in Rust

I had no problem installing the binary build from the AUR. The game ran ok. I just couldn't figure out what to do other than run and glide around. Looks and feels quite promising. Current entertainment value is about nothing.

I like the look and the influences of this one! I am looking forward to more development!

I wish GitLab would allow me to get notifications for Release like GitHub does.

Were they going for the ET movie at the end with the moon? :)

I'm glad they showed some failures; I was wondering what the player would actually be doing during this game.

Whew. I can tell that you are, while still professional, a bit angry about this one. I am too.

Silver lining? Now I want coffee.

Quoting: 14Why did they make this game? Graphics, animations, gameplay, even the text in the game look exactly like Counter-Strike.
Not really.
It looks like Tactical Ops, which actually is what this game is inspired by.
Indeed. and to add, counter strike and Tactical ops were developed and released nearly on the same time (counter strike released in Beta in June 1999; T.O. as a complete non-beta mod in dec 1999). CS was finished and became a game in itself in Nov 2000.

So T.O. was not a copy of CS.
The main specificities of TO versus CS was the speed of the game that poorly matched gameplay based on camping and snipers, it rewarded more rushers, constructed collective actions because you can't die with just one bullet in the feet (like with AWP in CS); it has bots (not CS, only through PODbot -Ping of Death- and those bots were far less entertaining); Guns were more different (eg 2 of the shootguns had very different damages and dispersal); maps had a lot of side-paths; you can fight underwater (in the dam map for example); ... I can go on for lines. I never understood why teenagers at that time preferred CS (may be because to win, you must have a real team play, not a selfish behaviour?).
So the bunny jump may be there to get those TO specific speed/dynamics?
Sure, it has its own origin story. I'm still not convinced it needed to be remade. Why didn't it compete with Counter-Strike the first time and why will it be different this time? If you want something that is actually different and not just nuances, there is Insurgency.
I don't agree there. Insurgency is extremely different, it's a shooter sure but has a completely different feel and pace not to mention game mechanics to both TO and CS.
What don't you agree with? My point is that Insurgency is different than CS whereas TO is not.
