DwarfCorp, an open source & procedurally generated real-time strategy game is now in Early Access

Yeah, I was gonna say something about Dwarf Fortress as well, even though I never gave that game more than 30 minutes of my time. This looks to be very similar but perhaps without the tedium. Despite it looking to be single player, I'm actually still interested. Looks pretty sweet.

Very interesting indeed. If I can install Steam and say, watch DRM content like Netflix, it would be enticing.

Take out enemies from an attack helicopter using an FLIR camera in Chopper: Lethal darkness

This sounds a lot like a Chopper game I played on an Apple II when I was a kid.

That farther you are from the killing you're involved with, the easier it is. You don't feel as much of the human damage you're causing. You can tie our tax dollars to warfare. Not that we have a choice in that matter, but we fuel it. It couldn't happen without our funding. You can also say shooting someone is probably mentally easier than strangling them. Quick and distant versus intimately close. But when it comes down to it, is there more loss of life in modern warfare than melee, or less? I'm not saying we should desensitize ourselves... just trying to look on the... uh, brighter side.

Valve makes adjustments to user reviews due to review bombing with 'histogram' charts
22 Sep 2017 at 1:25 am UTC

Steam reviews are more like reviewing the player experience with the game, not exclusively the game itself. Delivery of games and information is a lot different than cartridges on shelves and paper magazines. We have more voice to developers and publishers than merely our dollars. A fantastic marketing campaign could have sold tons of games in the past and the negative reviews would only sway the folk that A) weren't hyped enough to get it right away and B) care enough to look for reviews. So, sales weren't affected as much by reviews. Today, it's different. We can react immediately, both positively and negatively. I mean, what are the alternatives? Do you want bad reviews to be censored? Do you want negative feedback to a developer or publisher to be secret so nobody can see? I don't. I'd have to go to other review sources that seem more trustworthy.

People can be really mean sitting behind a computer screen. That's true. People can also jump on a hate bandwagon. But censorship is not the answer. Locking your review score isn't the answer either, since developers can continue to deliver or remove content and change anything in the game.

Personalized reviews might be the best thing anyone can think of right now. I'm sure it'll be optional and configurable.

Arma 3 1.76 for Linux is planned, work on it to start "soon"

I'm really happy to see these big updates coming! I feel like I bought Arma 3 at a great time.

Arma 3 for Linux updated to 1.70, it’s now 64bit and solves the texture issue I had

I'm really happy about this! I just bought Arma 3 Apex Edition on the last sale. A couple of my Windows buddies agreed to switch to the legacyports version. It'll be nice that we won't have to be as far behind patch wise and that we get 64-bit!

A bunch of Feral Interactive Linux ports may be broken on Arch and others, here's a possible workaround

You switched back to Ubuntu? Did your original frustrations with it go away?

World of Castles, a medieval themed online action-strategy game will have Linux support

If this game is as fun as Reign of Kings was before I started avoiding Windows, maybe it could fill that void! I don't like to pile too many sandbox / building games into my library, but RoK is one I own that I wish ran on Linux.

Dota 2 is set to get bigger with two more heroes teased for The Dueling Fates update

Even though I haven't played Dota 2 for quite a while, I do really like it. I watched many of the championship games last week as well. It runs fantastically on Linux, looks great, and it's free!
