Steam not working right on Arch Linux? It's an issue with FreeType and there's a fix

Can't say I've hit this problem. I might be in a sweet spot based on when I run updates. Nice to see the news, though, in case I run into it.

Funny but also sad that we started defending Arch before anyone even attacked. Arch is popular enough. We don't need to evangelize! It won't be cool anymore if it's mainstream!

I'd love to play it on a handheld, yeah.

I've recently gotten an itch to play Stellaris. It's just a matter of: do I want to see the rest of the day disappear into the blood-shot hours of the night?

This shooter actually looks good enough to play it by myself (no co-op), so wishlisted!

Yeah, no reason to get it in Early Access then. Cool news about co-op for sure though!

I like seeing news of big changes to the popular distributions. Keep them coming!

I agree that I would not recommend Debian to a newbie Linux gamer. That doesn't mean more experienced individuals can't make it work for them. Also, Debian is a great server operating system, and some of us like hosting dedicated game servers, too. Not to mention it's really impactful in the Linux ecosystem. I'm starting to wonder why you _wouldn't_ want distro news. Larger PC gaming sites may not talk about Windows or Mac too much because a lot of gamers don't care what their OS is. It's different for us. We game on Linux for a _reason_, not just by default. So, I'll go out on a limb and say Linux gamers care more about their operating system than the typical Windows gamer.

I don't really understand what they're going to do with this.

elementary OS 6 Odin is an absolute beauty and it's out now

Quoting: GuestAlso, does anybody find it strange that they ship with epiphany(and not Firefox) as the default browser? they show this off on all their screenshots.
I wonder if maybe they are shipping non-free codecs or extensions with it, and so they have to rebrand. I didn't look into it; just a guess.

I liked Elementary for a little while for the kids' computers. I wanted them to be familiar with a Mac-like experience rather than Windows. Well, I only kept eOS on their systems for less than a year because I use Arch btw and was too frustrated trying to get programs installed into their Ubuntu-based ecosystem. This was a couple years ago and before Flatpak stuff. So, I switched them to Manjaro (and then later to EndeavourOS). I hope Endeavour doesn't get really opinionated down the road because I want the Arch creep to stop in this household. I don't want to install more Arch systems from scratch. But they give me the most freedom and least frustration I feel like.

All in all, I am glad eOS exists and hope they and their users enjoy working with it. Probably not the right choice for gamers (generally speaking of course).

They've added quite a lot of free updates to this game over the years. Wow.
