VK9, the open source project to implement d3d9 over Vulkan continues to improve

Is that under a MIT or BSD styled license? I'm confused as to why they wouldn't use a FSF approved one. If so, they should be more clear as it would otherwise be dead on arrival and confuse people.
The Vulkan API spec has been updated again, now at its 34th revision since release

Even if developers went Windows only, they are too comfortable with DirectX and their tools. They usually update an existing engine instead of creating a new one per game and that engine is based off of the tried and true DirectX 11. Some also think Vulkan is too new and/or obscure and even if they consider it, it will be years before any implementation.
Oh and the video card situation is interesting right now. In Vulkan and DirectX 12 games, the AMD cards beat out the Nvidia ones pretty easy at the same price range. Part of why I haven't upgraded from a GTX 970 right now is the hope of better support for DirectX 12/Vulkan in the Nvidia video cards after the 1000 series. There is no point at this moment since most games are still DirectX 11 and that is where the performance is right now in Nvidia's camp.

GOG Connect has new games for you to grab from Steam for free if you already own them

Quoting: Avehicle7887I had BS1 from before but bought BS2 earlier today and its not on GOG Connect yet. I can always check tomorrow.Quoting: TuxusSomething don't work here...Have you had the games there for a while or did you add them recently to Steam? I ask this because I added Risk of Rain and Broken Sword 1 to Steam just today (had 2 Humble keys) and took a while for GOG Connect to see them but I did redeem them.
I have the two remastered Broken Sword games on Steam, but it says: "NO ELIGIBLE GAMES FOUND" and those games appear grayed out in the list.
Anyone else have a similar issue?

The next Nintendo console, the Switch, will use flash memory for its games and it is really the step forward. DVDs and even Blu-ray discs have reached space limits and not only are these games going on multiple discs, but you have to worry about a spinning optical media on a drive that can wear out with time. Of course the speeds are much faster comparing flash media to an optical drive.
If publishers shipped their game on like a 64 GB or less SD card or USB stick, then you would get more bang for you buck by actually buying it retail. It would cut down on download sizes (great for those in the country or 3rd world countries) and the price of flash media is really cheap for the size these days.

Quoting: barottoPublishers should consider distributing boxed games like in the '90s, but on read-only SD cards.I totally agree with you about a read-only SD card option for boxed PC games. I think its silly that you buy a game like Battlefield where its just a download code in the box or a partial download like most Bethesda games. Then you have Activision with the COD games that ship with like 8 DVDs. I don't have a DVD drive on this machine and even if I did, I would rather just download the game than swap out 8 seperate disks. Same goes if I got GTA V boxed compared to Steam.

I have a GTX 970 and at those low frame rates, I might as well just play it on Windows. I really don't want to play it on Low to get a steady 60 FPS. Or I can just wait for the Vulkan support patch and/or sale.
Its also too bad that the original and Human Revolution never got a port either. :-(

Shadow Warrior 2 may not come to Linux after all, it's getting a bit confusing

It would be a shame if this did not make it over, as the first one ran really well for me and was a pretty solid port overall.

I mentioned that because you state in your Google+ post to have newer drivers for both Nvidia and Vulkan.

Quoting: PeciskThis is huge, Vulkan adaptation has been quite rapid, and Linux editor being streamlined - awesome.Let's hope that 2017 is the year of Vulkan as more developers shy away from DirectX 11 and embrace an open API. DirectX 12 would be good too, but Vulkan pretty much runs everywhere!

Quoting: RedfaceYeah, I filed this bug [External Link] back in March to replace 361 due to issues and to do 364 instead. Now that we have 367, that is the preferred stable release.Quoting: t3gThat sounds good, and the current 16.04 LTS has 361.42 so its not as old as STiAT wrote who still must be on 14.04Quoting: STiATI doubt that any game supporting Vulkan will come out any time soon, since drivers of the Ubuntu LTS are not up for it (NVidia 304.131)The 367 drivers (stable Vulkan support) will make their way into the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and Ubuntu 16.10 repos soon and will replace 361 according to this xenial-proposed entry [External Link] on Launchpad.
I'm also guessing they will be available to install either before or when Ubuntu 16.04.2 gets released as an ISO at the end of this year or in February 2017.
