I'm also guessing they will be available to install either before or when Ubuntu 16.04.2 gets released as an ISO at the end of this year or in February 2017.

Quoting: STiATI doubt that any game supporting Vulkan will come out any time soon, since drivers of the Ubuntu LTS are not up for it (NVidia 304.131)The 367 drivers (stable Vulkan support) will make their way into the Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and Ubuntu 16.10 repos soon and will replace 361 according to this xenial-proposed entry [External Link] on Launchpad.

I hope this developer realizes that Epic is going to take his code, lock it down, not give it back to the community (it's not GPL), and then make millions of dollars from publishers while he gets $0 and has to resort to the good will of a "community" to fund his efforts to help Epic keep their code proprietary.
If the code was going to remain open for everyone to use, then his efforts aren't wasted as others can learn from it and use that knowledge for their own games. But since he insists on contributing to the existence of non-free software free of charge, he's a fool.

So Epic Games, a company that has made games for decades and makes a lot of money off of licensing their Unreal Engine is now panhandling for money? This isn't some indie dev looking to make ends meet. Its a big company that could spend the resources into GNU/Linux development if they wanted.
You want to support someone who needs it? How about that Axiom Verge guy and his sick kid instead. No way am I paying to support a corporation that takes advantage of the GNU/Linux community for free labor and doesn't release the code that the community worked on as free software.

Who buys games on day one anyways? They are usually buggy, require multiple patches, and has content locked behind paid DLC and season passes. Plus, there are Steam and GOG sales in addition to G2A and Kinguin.

I know you want more support for GNU/Linux, but that doesn't mean you should suffer by playing games like this. No reason to white knight.

It would be nice to see stable Vulkan support in 5.5 and above. Hopefully in time for the final version of System Shock considering that game needs some performance improvements.

Quoting: ZeloxI don't usually like to plug non-free projects behind a paywall, but the MoltenVK people were at Siggraph this year to talk about their Vulkan port to Metal.Quoting: AryvandaarWhat about using Vulkan?Well the good thing is, Vulkan works on both windows and linux.
But Mac still needs there Metal.
And I also think, like Liam is saying in the article, vulkan probably came out when the game was far in development.
