Personally, I still mostly use only packages in my distros repo or self compiled. Simply because it's how I've always done things and it's guaranteed to work out the box.
In addition, I only need to run one command to update, I don't have duplicate libraries and I know where the package was compiled and can verify it with signing as opposed to Flatpak where anybody can upload a flatpak that contains anything from anyone (not official dev builds, no quality control etc).... granted they're going to start verifying it now.. but up until this point I deemed it a security risk.
But it's my choice and it's the way I'll continue to do things for so long as I can, I am also not a fan of the recent trend for immutable filesystems where it's set distro way or no way.. I don't want my OS dumbed down to the point of not being fully under my control like an android device, I want to be able to edit my /etc and other files if I choose.
I'll keep full control over my tux for as long as possible, I know this goes against everything the linux community is pushing for at the minute, but it's my opinion and my choice.

It will be interesting to see how long we can play God of War on the deck, especially with higher graphics settings.
It'll be a flash back for me though as I remember playing God of War on my PSP 1000 (Japan edition) with custom firmware and pandora battery kit. (I still own it)
It'll bring back some memories that's for sure.

We had a big Pirate Party that got all the way too EU and The Pirate Bay is from here so this sentence was a popular early meme with the youth at the time.

I can't help but feel those who compared the deck to the switch are those who either
A) Don't fully understand the steam deck and what it can / does do
B) Simply MS-Only developers, so have no interest in a Linux device
C) Don't have enough information about the device and feel it's just another handheld console
I think their opinions may change if they understood it a bit better.
But perhaps I'm biased, since I have one preordered 🤔

That email sucks.
Goodbye humble, it was nice knowing you.
I generally use Steam and GOG mostly anyway.
(I know, GOG doesn't provide a linux client - but at least their games feature Linux builds where the developer uploads one and doesn't remove it like Humble just did...)

Loving the fact it supports Linux and is built on FOSS tooling! Kudos for that!
Edit: read a few of the devs posts in the games steam forum as it gave a bit of backstory to the dev and game.. made my purchase
