"Based on three main political systems (democracy, authoritarianism, totalitarianism), Realpolitiks allows you..." No anarchism? Not real nor politics... but that's another topic, so to stick to the game purpose... I won't buy it.

Editorial: The Nintendo Switch will use Vulkan, why that doesn't suddenly mean more Linux ports

Just because Wii U didn't sell as planned does not mean there were hundred of developments for it. Besides, if we count the developments for 3DS <thousands> that will be now unified with Switch I do believe is a milestone for Vulkan, open APIs, Nintendo and eventually us PC/Linux users.

Quoting: CreakIn terms of portability Nintendo still has like 75% of sales for both hardware and software. Now on mobiles as well with Super Mario Run and Pokémon Go. And that considering Switch is still an enigma about how successful will be... but as a reminder people declared the first Wii as a low specs gimmick console that would kill Nintendo once and for all though instead sold more than 100 million units.Quoting: t3gIf AAA developers and publishers bring their game to he switch and are forced to learn and use Vulkan, it is a huge benefit for everyone as they may use Vulkan for their PC releases too.Right now, even with Nintendo using Vulkan, DirectX is still more interesting. Having a graphics engine based on DirectX ensures to have a game compatible with Windows and XBox. It's like 50% of the market. The rest is mainly Sony with its PS4. That's why Nintendo announcing they're supporting Vulkan just isn't enough. But if Sony announces it, it might change the situation.

Could this lead to more ports of old/legacy games and, eventually, a discontinuation/lose purpose of Wine for games?

I've backed more than 30 projects myself (from games to bike accessories, going through table top games, food, social projects and clothes) and I have received already more than a 66% of them. Some were as I expected and other weren't but that happens with every single product bought.
I think most people back things without actually putting a thought on it, like if was just buying a product and the issue lies there in my opinion.

Quoting: chrisqTrue.Quoting: Mountain ManHow exactly does the customer got nothing substantial in return?Quoting: Purple Library GuyBasically, crowd funding puts 100% of the risk on the customer while the customer gets nothing substantial in return. It's free money for the developer with zero accountability. We've seen this countless times with developers backing out of promises, releasing clearly unfinished games, or simply abandoning a project. It's a bad idea that needs to go away.Quoting: Mountain ManI won't be backing - I'm against "crowd funding" on general principleI haven't really thought through my position on crowd funding, since I don't have a ton of spare funds to be part of a crowd with. So, genuinely wondering, not snarking--what general principle? And, against its existence or against getting involved?
I've participated in 6-7 crowd founder programs, and they've delivered every time (though not exactly on time), at a lower price than initial retail price.
