I found myself upgrading 3 home servers last night till pretty late in the morning xD no issues found except with my mail server after the update to dovecot 2.3 but a quick search and some documentation reading solved it :)

I really wish Steam chooses Debian for their main supported distro. It is true it needs a website revamp (which there are talks and work towards it if I understood correctly in one email from the mailing list not long ago), modernisation of their pipeline tools (also believe was mentioned by the new lead of the project) and overall a repository with more up to date kernels/graphic drivers to get the most advanced features for gaming hardware. But, no distro is perfect, and Debian and derivatives it’s the most used, making easier finding answers for problems, tested in a huge amount of different hardware and not so new hardware (this is important for gaming if we look at Steam’s survey) and pretty rock solid.

Anyway, thanks to everyone that works in Debian (1330 people), I’m happy to continue supporting the distro economically when possible and with some other help when more knowledgeable.

I don't remember* how many of those 10 years I have been enjoying the content, but I do hope there are many more.

Special mention to the community, without you, this would not be possible either. One comes for the news, but stays for the people.

Coincidentally, it's also Friday, there is overall good weather (at least in London) and tomorrow might be Wine release so I'll get ahead and open a bottle to do a summer classic "Tinto de verano".

The music is captivating and the intro works perfect to set oneself in the right mood. The quality of the video also seems more of an anime than from a video game. Aesthetically, with that beautiful red-ish palette, looks great too!

Also, I recently discovered that my partner enjoys watching me playing visual novels (replaying Phoenix Wright now) so it might be a good addition to my collection of games to play when we're together.

After Shenmue 3 I have decided to not back more Kickstarter projects -at least for the time being- but I wish them luck. If they eventually release it for Linux I'll be happy to give it a go as it looks quite good.

Depends on what you're after. I left Ubuntu after they forced too many UI decisions I didn't like, so Mint was a natural choice for me. Similar look and feel to good old Ubuntu + Gnome.

Debian Testing is also a good choice. It's basically the same system under the hood, so it's not even that much of a change. And Debian Testing is a rolling distribution with packages that are fairly up-to-date. And if you need bleeding edge, there is Debian Unstable. The biggest difference is that Debian is much less opinionated than Ubuntu, Mint, and other derivatives. They don't have the Debian desktop experience, but rather ship upstream packages. So you get vanilla GNOME, vanilla KDE, etc. with minimal branding from Debian.

I’m actually surprised Valve have not mentioned at all Debian on their last post. I always considered, and still do, Debian the most appropriate distro. Although newer Mesa/Kernels, in an apt repo, would be ideal for sid to have the perfect combination whilst gaming.

I have an i5 with 16GB in use for all my main projects, that originally started on a rpi 2 that eventually died. The new updates sound great, though and might be the time to get a new one and tinker a bit more even.

As far as I recall, the first game was never much of a hit, and the sequel can easily be played as a stand-alone game.

Actually I remember being the other way around. We had lots of news back then, I'm from Spain, telling how good the game was, how well it was selling in Europe, the controversy around it in Germany and stuff like that.

I never played much of Commandos 2, my PC was crap when the game released, until years later but also my friends talked less about it than with the first one.

Seems weird to me that if they are making a remaster they jump to Commandos 2 straightaway, unless being possibly easier to remaster a 3D engine rather than the original one.
