Maybe this is helpful for someone else:
I couldn't get my PS4 controller to work in-game, but it works relatively fine with having Steam map the gamepad to keyboard input...

Richard Stallman has resigned from the Free Software Foundation and MIT

Quoting: amataiIt is not because some of the english-speaking newspaper have a terrible coverage of the issue that a professor who relativizes rape on a mailing list containing its student don't have to resign.
Even with plenty of bad faith, that part can't be defended.
>Giuffre was 17 at the time; this makes it rape in the Virgin Islands.

Does it really? I think it is morally absurd to define "rape? in a way that depends on minor details such as which country it was in or
whether the victim was 18 years old or 17.
I think the existence of a dispute about that supports my point that
the term "sexual assault" is slippery, so we ought to use more concrete terms when accusing anyone.
Then, he keeps going after a student ask him to stop. When he calms down and realizes what he has done, he was to resign.
Stallman is not wrong about the fact that laws about this topic are different in different countries. Where I live, Austria, consent between a 17 year old and a much older person is legally possible, unless there is a situation of power or money involved. On the other hand, in some US states there will always be a rape investigation, even if the underage participant clearly states it was consensual (source [External Link])...
Edit start:
Where I am getting here is that basing a discussion on terms that vary by legislation and even more by culture is probably a bad idea, and that a more concrete language or a more verbose formulation is required to avoid confusion.

Please don't get me wrong, in my personal opinion the whole Epstein case is disgusting, and I'm rather certain that there was no consent whatsoever there.

Quoting: Guest[...]Why would he go on commenting about this topic at all?[...]
If I understand the newspaper articles correctly, that was in defense of a coworker, who is suspected (don't know if there were any sentences yet) of being involved in the Epstein case.

GTA: San Andreas is being remade (unofficially) in Unity and it supports Linux

Quoting: edoWhat I dont like about unity games is that you can tell its using unity by just looking at it
That's only true for games using Unity's standard shaders. Pillars of Eternity or Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun look quite different, imho. The same is true for Cities: Skylines.

Edit: Also, Unity's new high High Definition Render Pipeline should allow games to improve visual quality further.

Comedy adventure game "Demetrios: The BIG Cynical Adventure" is now available on GOG

I'm still sad that the English translation "Longstockings" has such a cumbersome word-melody. As an Austrian I grew up with the German version, "Langstrumpf", which is pretty close to the Swedish original "Långstrump", both having a much smoother sound to them.
(also: in the Bavarian dialect, which is spoken in most of Austria, it'd be "Långstrumpf")

Back on topic: I can really recommend the Deponia Trilogy (and also the fourth game, but wait some time between playing the third and the fourth). If you want something still funny, but more serious, have a look at The Whispered World.

Kerbal Space Program's huge Breaking Ground Expansion is out ready for you to do some science

Well, the EULA was changed after Take 2 bought Squad, and it now contains a forced arbitration clause. In Europe such terms are considered unfair against end-users, and are therefore null and void (they are valid in contracts between businesses, though). In the US it means that end-users basically agree not to sue Take 2 about anything related to the game, and instead have all complaints settled by some external arbitrator...

Realistically, it's no big deal. Who would sue a publisher about a game anyhow (considering the huge amount of money spent on a game...)? Still, it's understandable that for many people it's a matter of principle.

They have changed something in that area, according to the video.

Quoting: soulsourceWhich broken Fonts are you talking about? I've been playing for years, and never noticed any broken fonts.
I bought the game a couple of years ago and it was missing most of the text, making it unplayable. They were supposedly using proprietary Microsoft fonts that you had to jump through hoops to get on Linux.

I haven't bothered with it since.
Hmmm, so I probably didn't notice anything because I have the mscorefonts package installed (iirc it's a dependency of wine).

The devs had an awesome talk at Unreal Fest last year, about how their levels are being made/generated (it's a semi-procedural approach). I guess the slides are online somewhere?

The absolute classic physics-based puzzle game 'World of Goo' is getting a little revamp soon

Quoting: Avehicle7887I learned about this game back in the first Hunmble Indie Bundle, I never played but this might make me finally try it. I admit I'm not a very big fan of puzzle games.
It's not really a puzzle, and more a physics game. While it clearly is not the same, it's really similar to Pontifex [External Link], Bridge Construction Set [External Link] or the Bridge Constructor series [External Link] (and yes, all linked games have a Linux version).
