Quoting: soulsourceWhich broken Fonts are you talking about? I've been playing for years, and never noticed any broken fonts.
I bought the game a couple of years ago and it was missing most of the text, making it unplayable. They were supposedly using proprietary Microsoft fonts that you had to jump through hoops to get on Linux.

I haven't bothered with it since.
Hmmm, so I probably didn't notice anything because I have the mscorefonts package installed (iirc it's a dependency of wine).

The devs had an awesome talk at Unreal Fest last year, about how their levels are being made/generated (it's a semi-procedural approach). I guess the slides are online somewhere?

The absolute classic physics-based puzzle game 'World of Goo' is getting a little revamp soon

Quoting: Avehicle7887I learned about this game back in the first Hunmble Indie Bundle, I never played but this might make me finally try it. I admit I'm not a very big fan of puzzle games.
It's not really a puzzle, and more a physics game. While it clearly is not the same, it's really similar to Pontifex [External Link], Bridge Construction Set [External Link] or the Bridge Constructor series [External Link] (and yes, all linked games have a Linux version).

Quoting: BielFPsI hope someone creates a gui application to easy activate freesync/adaptive sync
It's actually mentioned in the Mesa changelist:
util: Add adaptive_sync driconf option
If I understand that correctly, they are talking about a config option that gets exposed via the DriConf [External Link] GUI tool.

Single-player god game 'Godhood' from Abbey Games is fully funded and heading to Linux

Quoting: RFSharpeI am surprised that Godhood only "managed to get just over their goal of €50K from around 1.5K backers so they only really just scraped by with it." <snip>
I guess that too few people actually knew about the Kickstarter campaign. I didn't read anything about it anywhere else than here. Also, it is my impression that they didn't really get the asocial media motor running at full speed...

But no need to complain, the Kickstarter was successful in the end, and that is no small feat for a game company to achieve.

What have you been playing recently and what do you think of it?

I've played through Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption, and must say it's really funny, although it has its lengths if one manages to miss some side-quests and doesn't know what to do...

Now that all mods I play with are compatible with KSP 1.6.1, I've decided to dig it out again. It's still one of the best games out there.

Apart from that I'm still spending an unreasonable amount of time moving cards around in Cultist Simulator.

Godhood from Abbey Games will have you create your own religion, now on Kickstarter

I'm not sure yet if I should get the early access via Kickstarter or wait for a proper release...
On the one hand I'd like to play it. On the other hand, early access...

Edit: I mean, I already backed it yesterday, but I'm not sure if I should download the game before the official release.

King under the Mountain, a settlement-building strategy game now has an alpha up on itch.io

It's a bit hard to judge from the video, but it seems you're controlling a lot more units in this game than you do in Rimworld (where you usually have less than 20).

To me it looks actually a lot like the very old versions of Dwarf Fortress, before DF became 3D.

Talking point: What are you playing this weekend?

Quoting: sergioandvarDoki Doki Literature Club! I think it's a great visual novel and not very long. It plays great on Proton, just click n' play!
Why use Proton for a game that has a "native" Linux version packaged along with the Windows download (assuming you got it from itch.io)? It's written in Python, so it's actually platform agnostic, and you can easily launch it using the "ddlc.sh" file in the game's folder.

I'm currently playing Hero-U. I got it while it was on sale on GoG at some point, and although I must say that I'm torn. I like the story and the characters, but the fixed schedule on most of the game days feels a bit like, well, going to school. Also, I guess I'm about 15 years older than the game's target audience. Physical age, that is. I still refuse my mental age to progress beyond 10.
