Fortune's Run is an upcoming retro-styled hard-scifi shooter worth watching

I started off watching the video which look fun and nice but I can't follow yet another super fast FPS... Then Fortune's Run goes "Blocking bullets with a Katana" and I do wonder if it's EYE inspired.
Let me telefrag people, while connecting nearby enemies to them and still spitting more leads than most FPS let you do. I'll let the hacking game slide, but if that simple request is fulfilled, it'd be good. With 8 players coop it'd be great.
Before people get the wrong right idea: yes, I'm a diehard EYE fan, but none of my friends want to try it.
"Fortune's Run is a retro-styled first-person shooter developed on Unity inspired by Deus Ex, EYE: Divine Cybermancy and Build Engine titles."Slap my knee and call me a skeleton as would the Emperah, I'm game. I've to see how much EYE aspects end up in that thing, I've a feeling that native english speakers won't manage to have as fucked up writing has StreumOnStudio had back in 2011 (it had a blind translator × "I've no idea what I'm doing" × "the plot is weird already" issue in EYE, but it made it pretty fun*), I hope we can rebind whatever skills we get to whatever we want and really push it to the limit.

Time to finish it then. Or not and restart a game. I'm actually bending on redoing it.
Overall a very decent, entertaining game. Nothing amazingly new, but what it does, it does it well enough to be fun.
Art is a bit uneven, but I'm not disappointed by it either.
For me, it's overall a solid experience, without any of the bullshit of an ad campaign or something. They may even have fixed some of the weak weapons.

Valve fires back in the lawsuit from Wolfire Games

All in all, malice or not, the longer I look at it, the worst it look, in every aspect: the claims are flimsy at best, the outcome will dent their reputation in the small world of video games, they are bound to waste money.
A shame, I'll be honest, tho having rustybroomhandle give some insight as a steam partner is enlightening.

Quoting: orochi_kyowhat could be the motivation of this person nobody knew about before this lawsuit.Either take your medication, or look up who Wolfire Games are, both as indie and people publishing native Linux games. They have been in the game to make games since 2003, longer than some people that reply in this thread even lived. Those may not be blockbuster sellers, but they are doing a marathons in an industry focused solely on sprints. They did help quite a few people to look into Linux and MacOS native builds, including Valve, if my memory serves me right.

Creating precedents is important, especially if it is to prevent a giant such as Valve to crush you under contractually-binding papers.
Now I'd expect it to not being specifically against Wolfire Games, nor an official thing, but a systematic yet unofficial thing.
Let's not forget a lot of people have come about Valve's image of the company as being pretty nonfactual (no hierarchy and such), so representatives interpreting in their own way the rules, or applying a set of tacit rules and making implications about them could also not being ruled out.
A lad I knew a while back did publish games on steam and offer platforms and he had the numbers for his own indie titles, Steam was dwarfing the combined other platforms. So I do get where Wolfire is going with that and I think it's good to create a precedent, but I don't have too much hope for them, especially since Valve will most likely delay the whole thing until Wolfire either drop it or break because of it.
On the other hand dropping it early would undermine Wolfire's point and may even make them look like some legal trolls.
A sad thing, considering they are some of the few that really keep in mine Linux for a full native support.

Avoiding talking about the whole shebang when it's murky is important, but the non compliance with GRPD doesn't look good either. Those are fine-able if I recall correctly.
All in all, going public isn't the issue (or would people calling out sexual predators publicly be issues too?), the whole thing have been going for way too long.
Note that I don't comment on if the allegation against Alexis Kennedy are true or not, I don't know that, but I fear those calling out a bit too.
If you call people about something like abuse and shit, it's headline worthy and the refutation will weight fuck all, be it true or not...
So, some people will use it to destroy a competitor (directly or indirectly, within the same company or not), while legitimate use is perverted. And it makes the whole situation a lot worst.
Now that Alexis Kennedy realize, a smile on his face, that papers never went through may actually be the X factor to the whole story, because going to the court would likely make the whole thing spill its guts. Tho I don't know in UK law if such matter would merge into the whole legal battle of ownership.
A nasty piece of business, that's it.
A side note:
Note that "unlawful" is also because I'm not sure how the French denomination translate in English, but it's a pretty big crime, it's not a fine level, if I recall correctly.

Quoting: slapinWell, reading all the allegation it occurs to me that he was quite unfaithfull loverThis isn't ours to have a take on, they may have specific views about it between themselves.
Quoting: slapinProbably it is not nice to fuck around at work, but still nothing criminalDepends: abuse of position of power is 100% unlawful here, so that's a key thing: is it consensual or not?

System76 has launched Pop!_OS 21.04 with the new COSMIC desktop

Design convergence, just a thing happening because people working in the field not only share ideas, but looks up similar stuff that works.
Not too fond of it, but I should likely spin it once or twice in a VM to check out the changed. Tho I like how Pop_OS! devs went, rather than forking stuff. But it's fine for a default user experience's I'd say.
For which I'll not really agree with calling them the Apple of Linux, which I believe kinda fall more on Purism. Tho both are more in-between an Apple approach and the seal of quality of Nintendo when it come to how they try to iron out quirks by controlling all the hardward, software and default experience.

Surreal point & click horror adventure Strangeland released for Linux

Now that another game is out from the devs, I guess I'll have to do Primordia all over again and Strangeland goes to my wishlist.

Quoting: PublicNuisanceI still have to finish Primordia but found it interesting.Unlike some older point&click, I've never been stuck in Primordia because of a puzzle. And the game is rather short. It's far from a The Dig commitment for example on those. But it's really only good stuff.

ScummVM adds support for Nightlong: Union City Conspiracy and The Journeyman Project 2

Nice to still see ScummVM getting worked on. Had a folder full of games for it somewhere.
Maybe Nightlong may be coming to GOG, at worst I found a few website where it could be found, but a GOG release would be a better thing to have. From asking around, seems it's more in the Full Throttle tier on the puzzle difficulty side which is good.
The other game interest me less, even if some artworks definitely have my back (the suit for example).
Guess I'll wait and see if Nightlong get a GOG rerelease, or any kind rerelease.

the narrative structure of a US crime proceduralAm I the only one put of by this? Maybe it's because I'm in Europe, and with time I kind of realized there is a massive gap in the whole legal side of things between EU and US (I don't know for the rest of the world), it show especially in TV shows and movies... So I don't know, the sentence make me more wary than interested by the game.
Kalypso Media to reduce pricing on their games as a result of doing well
17 Jun 2021 at 12:19 am UTC
Like preorder exclusive content being FOMO.
Note for my comment about Kalypso past experience, it's more that I really didn't dig Tropico 5 and 6 and Dungeons.
I should try Omerta, I have it, but last time, it was messy (IIRC it was a know graphical bug)

Quoting: slaapliedjemost likely is held back just due to deadlines. Not even close, it can even be ready on day 1 but it help a lot to boost again the interest after a few weeks in the game.
