I was playing Borderlands 3 but then I got sidetracked by Ara Fell: Enhanced Edition. Eleven hours into it and I'm hooked: it's a rather good pixel-RPG with engaging characters, cool combat and some reasonably hard puzzles. There are quite a few secrets and side-quests to be found, too. Recommended!

How-to: upscale old games on Linux

Quoting: Dunc(I'm seriously considering going back to a CRT. In fact, I'm actually using a small 14" one as a secondary monitor at the moment so I can have livestreams on in the background to take my mind off... er, Current Events. I'd forgotten, but the image quality on those things is amazing.)

I used to have an Iiyama 19" CRT with a fancy flat screen (it had two very feint bars across the image which was part of the flattening process!). The actual image was amazing compared to the flat-screen jobs I've had since!

In some ways I miss the CRT, but LED monitors are much more convenient for me these days.

I've completed the demo and am very much looking forward to this game :-)

As mentioned in some of the Steam reviews, there were some serious bugs back in February with enemies swarming the player but this was quickly fixed. You discover some of the more interesting portions of the game as you progress such as the clock feature which means that certain events (such as the appearance of some particularly tough enemies in an 'arena') only occur at certain times.

The game is very hard but not unfair and the checkpoints are reasonably well-placed. Highly recommended from this gamer!

Just built the Linux binary and have tested with the GOG version. Works well so far :-)

As an update, I have purchased the game today but found I had to symbolic link the binary as Steam was looking for an .exe rather than the correct .x86_64 file. Aside from that, no complaints in the 60min or so I've played so far!

Quoting: NezchanI suspect the dev is being brigaded at this point. There are a lot of people who are outright saying they bought the game just to leave a bad review and then refund it.

Yes, it does look like that, sadly. This is when I miss the days of magazines like PC Zone which would at least give a fairly balanced review.

Who remembers their review of Frontier 2: First Encounters, illustrated with picture of bow-wrapped turd? ;-)

From the reports I've seen, the main complaint seems to be that the game is not of the type originally (allegedly) promised. However, hopefully it will be interesting to see what others think. It is on my wishlist but I'm prioritising Beautiful Desolation this month!

I've been playing Hellpoint: The Thespian Feast via Proton. Now that the devs have made some tweaks and patches, the game balance is far better and it's a joy (if rather frustrating!) to play. Looking forward to the native full game release.
Am also playing The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters. Made it through to the gymnasium so will hopefully have completed it soon. Recommended!
Two games which I have ongoing in the background are Dead Cells and Ion Fury. I am still only on one boss cell with Dead Cells and whilst I can make it to the Hand of the King for the second time, he always obliterates me. One day... ;-)

Prepare for another run as Dead Cells: The Bad Seed is out

Quoting: GrimfistOh man, they keep pushing out content while I still haven't started the base game :D
So many good games, but so little time

Drop the other games and play this. You won't be disappointed! It is bloody hard, though :-)
