Quoting: scaineExt4 is the way to go. Don't use NTFS for anything, under Linux. At all. EverOkay so do I just format it to ext4 and create a Games folder for Steam to recognize? Then mounting it like I would any other drive? Making sure I have access to it as well, as in the past when formatting to ext4 it was rooted, just make sure it's open for me to use? Should be easy enough.

Quoting: scaineThat's not the case for me. My 2Tb NVME is mounted in /mnt/scaine and I symlink it with ~/Games.I was always under the impression that they had to be on the same drive as OS, as tried to have separated drive formatted to NTFS and then Steam kept on showing read errors, saying it cannot read the drive. What is the recommended Format for Proton games being on separate drive?

Running NVIDIA 3060 12GB of Ram on it.
16GB of Ram on PC
Ryzen 5 2600 Six cores twelve threads CPU
ASRock B450M Pro4 AM4 MICRO ATX Motherboard.
Built myself got two of them. I run icy docks for my SSDs with all sorts of Linux on.
The only problem with Proton, is the games need to be on the same drive as the OS.
So running 2TB SSD with Linux Mint Uma Xfce edition, based on Ubuntu 20.04 and majority of my Windows games on. Games are getting so big in size to house all the Hollywood style Movie, that modern games are nowadays.
I will be posting on YouTube tonight Monday 29th August. Takes a while for 2k 1440p video to render some of the game from the beginning, showing frame dips, frame rises.
Once I've bought some XP skills, you'll see the difference.
I'll post a link here for you.

Quoting: KlaasThis sounds interesting. Is that a coincidence or is there a causal relationship? It's true on my hardware.

YouTube thought my Steam Deck video was 'harmful and dangerous'

As good as technology is, just goes to show how we are not at the point where bots are making bots?
Human errors in the programming of them, on what to look out for in the YouTube realm? Loads of people getting age restrictions on the game Mortuary Assistant. Some YouTube creators were getting age restrictions, whilst others posting the same content were not. I always thought that if you set your content up as not being for kids, then that means for adults only.
Obviously YouTube creators who are making a living out of YouTube, want as many people to see their content as possible, but then why put a choice of for kids and not for kids when uploading video, if it isn't read properly by the bot, that is in place to make sure that the content being uploaded is stated as such by the up-loader??
YouTube relies too much on tech to do their job. To go through a billion odd videos a day, can not be kept an eye on by human eye alone. They need to pull in their bots and go through the code though, as the amount of errors these bots are making is diabolical. All it does is confuse the hell out of the the content creator. They also need to make their guidelines more transparent, as the bot does not tell creators as to why their video has had to have an age restriction? Or what part of the video is deemed age restrictive?

It's another reminder that moderation bots are stupid and having all your eggs in one basket is not a great idea either.

Quoting: Beamboomthought this game didn't run well on desktop Linux? Has that changed? It runs beautifully. You will notice some frame drops to begin with, but once you buy some web swing skills with XP points, the frame rates go up and up.

Quoting: melkemindIt was running fine for me yesterday but has crashed multiple times today. It's hard to tell if it's because of something in ProtonUnfortunately AMD users do have games crash on them from time to time. No doubt you've brought the visual settings down too? Hopefully the update patch will sort it out for you?

Quoting: Mountain ManPerformance is not perfect as I do notice occasional framerate dips as Spider-Man swings through the city, but it doesn't affect gameplay. I'm playing on the medium graphics preset which look pretty good to me.I noticed frame drops too, but once you unlock and buy some web swing skills, with XP points the game's frames go up and up, scarily like PS4. I have just completed it on easy mode, going to go through it on Normal, then Hard, then ultimate. Just cannot put this game down. Miles Morales should be out by the time I fully complete this game with all difficulty levels completed, side missions too. I'm just so happy to be away altogether from Windows. I cried when I first booted this game up, at the sheer beauty of this game running on my free and open source machine. I still keep pinching myself to make sure I'm not dreaming, that we all can play Windows games in Linux, with hardly any tinkering. When Valve announced about Proton back in 2018, did not think it was going to go anywhere and also thought it was not going to work, but now look where we are? Four years on and shocked at how we get first day releases working. The Steam Deck what a brilliant piece of tech. I use the Steam Deck as a tool, even though I don't own one, if it runs on Steam Deck, it'll run on Desktop.

Saves having to boot my PS4 up, which has been put away with all my other consoles. This game is absolutely stunning, a fantastic port to PC. Seeing the Steam Deck running it so well, is amazing. I'm in two minds to get a Steam Deck, as majority of games that can in Steam Deck, can run just fine on Desktop.

Quoting: mAdCraZyaJIt is such a good game. I’m going to be urging my buddies that didn’t play it on PlayStation to pick it up! Hopefully the Nvidia related bugs get patched up soon though.I have got it going, Proton Experimental with NVIDIA 3060. Playing on medium to high settings.

If only we could get the GOXLR to work with this as well. I have to keep booting into Windows to load my settings, then switch back to my Linux Computer. Have not got the sound effects, but have the cussing button the beep. Wish manufacturers or developers of the software that goes with the Windows only Hardware, would just think of Linux users as well. How hard is it to write the same software for Linux? Surely use the original piece of software for Windows as a template?

Making Nemo Default is a breeze too. Do not uninstall your original file manager though.
In Terminal
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons false
xdg-mime default nemo.desktop inode/directory application/x-gnome-saved-search
Enable Nemo to open in your terminal
gsettings set org.cinnamon.desktop.default-applications.terminal exec terminal of choice

Quoting: iiariYes some Cinnamon stuff, but nothing major that will make it feel like you're installing Mint itself.Quoting: clatterfordslimNever been a fan of Dolphin, like Nautilus it's too locked down. So whenever trying a new OS, I install Nemo.KDE Manjaro and Nemo fan here as well, but I haven't installed Nemo in a few years because I seem to remember installing Nemo feeling like it was also installing half of Mint to get it to work. Is that still the case?
