Is OpenTomb fully functional now? Last time I checked it was only partially playable.

Feral Interactive have released a new teaser for a Linux & Mac port to come

It seems like they aren't paying much attention to their radar. This is the first I've seen them release a game and not show it on the radar. They still have F1 as "out now for MAC" even though they just released Total War Warhammer for MAC. Unless they want to push F1 more than Warhammer. Maybe Warhammer is selling really well and F1 isn't?

Warhammer was already released for Linux but I believe they've listed games on the radar that they already released for another platform. I think they did this for Life is Strange when it was released for MAC and delayed for Linux, then released for Linux. I believe they did it with Rome: Total War between MAC and IOS

Looks like the experimental Linux version of Arma 3 will get the 64bit treatment

Quoting: g000hDo people think it is worth getting Arma 3 which is available quite cheaply in the current Humble Bundle. It isn't quite my type of game (I prefer DOOM style much more). If I got it, would I be able to use it to play DayZ on Linux (probably not, but thought I'd ask)? Also, it isn't really supporting Linux gaming if I buy it "for Windows" is it.
It does in that Bohemia and Virtual Programming will know that you bought and installed it Linux, which boosts our numbers and makes them more likely to continue supporting Linux.

Native releases instead of crappy Feral ports: 1 [External Link], 2 [External Link] will help us get even (please note the "Metro Last Light Redux" where the devs made the Linux version themselves). Why should I pay for twice more expensive hardware to get on par with Windows?

Quoting: liamdaweFor those wondering about my "more users" comment, remember that the Steam Hardware Survey percentage for operating system use is a ratio, so even when the percentage drops the overall user count is probably higher due to Steam's constant growth in terms of overall user-base.
That's just pure rationalization. By that logic we can conclude that the number of Linux gamers grew solely because of the increasing number of humans on the Earth! That's true but hardly relevant to Valve's push. And the numbers show us the obvious: Linux became less represented on Steam and thus less appealing for developers.

In my country we have a saying: "Nothing is more permanent than the temporary".
Feral ports are native. I think what you meant is that we need games developed for Linux, not ported to Linux from another platform as an afterthought. It isn't about being on par with Windows, not for me. If I wanted to be on par with Windows I would be on Windows. It is about being able to play games I like on a platform I like, a platform that respects me as a user and that I actually have control over.

Every argument for everything is a rationalization. Steam is growing quickly and Linux use is growing also. Windows use just happens to be growing faster, which when you look at it from a total percentage makes it look as though Linux use is shrinking. If you want to know if Linux use is growing you would have to look at only the number of Linux users. Obviously we are a small market. Hopefully we will become a more appealing one as time goes by.

Obviously Steam Machines are not doing great right now. Doesn't surprise me as they aren't ready for mainstream. If at some point they become ready and Valve gives them a real push they could be great. Only time will tell.

Aspyr Media confirm the 'Australian Summer' Civilization VI update should be on Linux in 'a matter of weeks'

Replica IP
To me it means they won't be porting popular outside games like they do for MAC. Just indie and self developed/published games. In other words, Feral, VP, Knockout Games are now the primary places to expect AA or AAA ports.

Anyone notice on their twitter they mentioned no ETA for "PC/MAC/Linux" cross platform multiplayer? Using PC to mean Windows. Grateful for CIV VI on Linux but not encouraged by their behavior towards Linux recently. Would have loved to have gotten Jade, KOTOR I and/or Mafia II on Linux.

HITMAN for Linux officially announced, port by Feral Interactive and arriving this month

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoWhen a publisher infect a game with DRM, is because that publisher doesn't trust its consumers.
A publisher that doesn't trust its consumers does not deserve a single penny.
You can use that same logic about games not being open source. I am also against closed source and DRM but I like games. My limit is if I have to give root access to a game to install it's DRM.

Quoting: m2mg2I think they listed similar minimums on some of their other games. I have an FX 8350 and haven't had issues with Mad Max, Tomb Raider or Deus Ex MD. I do have a GTX 980 so maybe that makes up for the cpu a little? IDK
really? Deus Ex MD runs good? i have places where fps drops down to 25, which is unacceptable.. no matter how low u put my settings.. and i have GTX 1070. Same with Mad Max, rare places, some camps where looking at some specific angles fps tanks to 19-25fps, while other than that its mostly 70+ FPS
In Mad Max in certain places the FPS would drop below what I would like them to, but it wasn't all that bothersome. Didn't have those issues at all Tomb Raider, and haven't seen them in Deus Ex. I Finished Mad Max and Tomb Raider all the way through. Still working on Deus Ex. I play everything at 1920x1080 with settings cranked up a little, not maxed out but higher than normal. I have a GSync Monitor with GSync enabled, don't know how much of a difference that makes. I also have a water cooler as the 8350 ran pretty noisy and hot without it, now it is cool and quiet.

Crossing my fingers that Ryzen lives up to the hype. It's really sad to see that AMD CPUs are no longer "good enough" for gaming.

Quoting: MikeActually I was thinking about giving up and buy it for Windows, as the complete edition was out and nothing announced for Linux. Now I know I will get it in a few days! I just have to buy a new HDD, possibly 4To to keep up with all those ports :D

This teaches a lesson: Never lose hope on Feral Interactive, they are the one porting the greatest games! Thank you guys!
In the name of the whole community, thanks for waiting to buy the Linux port! There are some games I am dying to see on Linux (e.g. GTA V), but I think chances are abysmal. Even so, I am not nearly desperate enough to give up and throw money towards Windows gaming if my wish doesn't come true. Dang, if anything, I am desperate for time to play all the Linux games already available!
I used to dual boot or keep a Windows box around. No more, at this point you couldn't pay me to use Windows at home. The only way I pay for a game that isn't officially released on Linux is if their is an independent engine you can use with the extracted game files(Doom 3, Morrowind), I'm optimistic about OpenRW becoming fully functional although the development has slowed. Xoreos would be nice but it has been worked on a long time and still has a long way to go. I learned my lesson the first couple of games I bought on the promise of a Linux release... Darksiders and Evolve. I'll buy it when it is released, on Linux. Feral is on fire, I actually don't have the money to buy all their games. Until recently I would buy some of the games I wasn't really interested in playing just to support Linux game development. I will be buying Hitman for sure, not sure about Dirt Rally. I will probably buy CIV VI, but mainly because I want to support Aspyr and encourage them to keep pushing Linux as it seems their Linux efforts have died down.
