Quoting: ShmerlI was wrong there, looks like there is some speculation it may be supported in the future but nothing definite.Quoting: m2mg2OpenGL is an industry standard, DirectX is a proprietary Microsoft API. I think the only console that has ever used DirectX is XBOX. Vulkan was set to be really awesome and Apple had to screw the pooch and segment everything again. But at least with Vulkan you will still be able to hit Android, Linux, Windows 10, Playstation and Nintendo. Not Playstation as far as I know. It's one of the major blockers for wider Vulkan adoption now.

Quoting: elbuglioneI have a 1TB SSD, a 750 GB SSD and 2 450 GB SSD's all in my gaming rig. I can't bring myself to go back to spinning disks after using an SSD, they are just to slow. I only use spinning disks in my NAS. I remember thinking the 750 GB drive would hold a whole lot of games, then the games starting being 20GB, 40GB and 60GB of data... so much for that idea.Quoting: chrisqNew HDD 6TB here to. for the same reason...I'm nearly out of hard-drive space, I'm actually going to have to buy an new hard drive just for games, on Linux, insanity.I'm building a new NAS to fit it all :O

But at least with Vulkan you will still be able to hit Android, Linux, Windows 10, Playstation and Nintendo.Quoting: lijuMight be a silly question, but can any of You advice what is the reason for dev now to study and learn directx12 instead of focusing on Vulkan? What benefit could there be to choose dx12 over Vulkan nowadays? Any super support from ms? Incentive? Is it that vulkan is available on windows, but not x1? I would think having limited manpower resources its always better to go 100% into Vulkan to reach easily more devices/ bigger market. Am I wrong here?I have no experience in developing games, or using vulkan and DX*. This is PURE spekulation from my side.
But I think it all comes downs to, dx* has been used for a while and its somewhat of an industri standard. Applying a new API takes time, users have to learn it and know they way around.
DX* is something that has been used for a while and meny devs use and know there way around it.
I think, back in the days OpenGL was harder to use, it did also lack featuers that dx* hade, dx* was also easyer to use then OpenGL.
And now its more of a market standard, and it takes time and money to switch. I think or believe vulkan is the better option just because its crossplatform. This would hopefully give more games to linux aswell.
And if you think Im wrong or know Im wrong please correct me.

Quoting: lejimsterThe way Feral has been porting lately I don't see any reason they would add Vulkan to existing titles or any reason we would want them to, it would just slow down the releases. Seems much preferable they would just make future ports with Vulkan initially. Down the road I could see them doing it, after they've built up experience and expertise with Vulkan and created a somewhat automated conversion process of OpenGL-Vulkan.Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiT@Feral: Will it be vulkan? Are there any vulkan ports to be announcet right now? :)I asked on Facebook. They said its opengl. Vulkan is coming later in the year, it wasn't clear if they are planning Vulkan for an unreleased game or for titles like Hitman and Dues Ex that have a DX12 back end already.

This year is looking good indeed, admittedly I was a little worried. If Two Worlds 2 actually hits its latest release date this month (no real reason to believe it will but maybe) it'll be 4 big games in about 1 month! :O

Quoting: omer666I found this also. I tried to play a Feral game the other day and couldn't, after fiddling around with other settings and no luck decided to try a different Feral game. None of them launched. STEAM_RUNTIME_PREFER_HOST_LIBRARIES=0 fixes the problem on Fedora 24. That Steam update really played a number on me, first my steam controller was all mucked up and then no Feral games worked. Luckily I got it straightened out but I wouldn't expect that much breakage after a routine update.Quoting: GuestI've got this problem as well, and exporting the variable you provided fixes it.Quoting: FireBurnGentoo User here, I had to copy some libraries from ./ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/ to ./steamapps/common/ShadowOfMordor/lib/x86_64/It could be caused by the recent change in the way the Steam client handles the runtime and local libs. I have no idea what they did, but setting STEAM_RUNTIME_PREFER_HOST_LIBRARIES=0 reverts to the old behaviour.
I didn't have to do this when I first got the game, I'm not sure if it was caused by the Mordor update or a Steam client update, or simply the libraries on my system being too new now
To be clear the STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled so it should be using the provided libraries rather than the system ones (which are now too new to be compatible)
I've got to tell that it affects all Feral games. I'll see if I can find any other workaround.
You will need to update your udev rules for the Steam Controller

Quoting: slaapliedjeTried changing the batteries, no effect.Quoting: m2mg2I don't know if it is due this or something in Rocket League, but the analog stick and most of the buttons on my steam controller don't work in Rocket League anymore. I have the settings recommended here and rebooted but still nothing. I've just been playing with an old logitech controller. Running Fedora 24.Swap out the batteries. That's a sign that they're low (same thing happened to me mid-game).
By the way, apparently this site now uses cookies differently or something, I have some cookie destroyer plugin, and it has made me retype this message three times now... finally disabled it for this site.

I tried to play again recently and my steam controller doesn't work right anymore. I have all the udev rules and everything seems to be OK, but when I get in game there is no response on the analog stick. Some of the buttons work but most do not. The analog stick works in the initial menu but stops working in game.
-update- Wasn't Rocket League. After issuing steam --reset it went back to normal, also had an issue with libraries after a steam update.
