Quoting: crt0megaThe only issue I noticed had to do with input mapping. When using a joystick I could look around but not move, when using keyboard/mouse move but not look around. Should be resolvable but I haven't gotten around to messing with it. Changing steam controller config may do it, I've got so many Linux games I haven't played I haven't gotten to it. That and there is a little resentment about it working in Linux but not being released for Linux.Quoting: m2mg2I used your blog to make Dead Effect run in Linux. I was trying Dues Ex the Fall but like you, I got no sound. I went to the wwise site and downloaded all the Linux versions of the their sdk and compiled the aksoundengine.so files. But none of them worked. Out of curiosity, did you try the different versions of aksoundengine on their site?Funny, I used his suggestions for Dead Effect, too. But I got some weird results:
Have you noticed something similar?

Quoting: dubigrasuI don't have an issue with Wine ports of older games if they work well. I haven't seen a lot that do that though. Two Worlds had black and gold effects in the background, Enclave messed with my screen brightness. I had to replace the gog Wine version with my native Wine in Flatout I and II after a system update because they no longer started. They are all fairly minor issues with the exception of Enclave which is very annoying, although a lot of less experienced users probably wouldn't have been able to modify Flatout I and II the way I did. I am grateful for the ports but a little more testing and little less fixing required would be nice.Quoting: LinasAlthough I have to admit that Topware Interactive seem to know what they are doing, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. They do seem to perfected their scripts. They will still probably have issues with certain configurations (well, Wine), but overall they do work. The dev is also very patient and dedicated while willing to put up various fixes until the bug reports stops, and only then is releasing the Linux version.

It seems likely to me that if they aren't committed to it, it probably won't happen.

Quoting: liamdaweI totally agree, I meant we should talk about all distro's positively and not bring negativity about individual choice. It was meant to be a statement of agreement, sorry if it wasn't as clear as it was intended.Quoting: m2mg2There's freedom and then there's people being douches and starting a needless distro war ;)Quoting: liamdawePlease do not bring distro wars here, they are not welcome. All it does it get people riled up.We should celebrate our diversity. I don't like Ubuntu, but I have no issue with other people liking it. It has brought many users to Linux that may not be here otherwise. I'm not a huge fan of rolling release either as it can interfere with consistency. I'm happy with whatever distro works for the user, which is really what is important. You don't get that with Windows, the user does not matter. That is what Linux and FSF is about, user freedom. Celebrate it!
The fact that users can get current versions of mesa, llvm, radv in ubuntu more easily is great!

Quoting: dibzIt's just copyright law, they have to defend it whether it's competing or not unfortunately. No they don't, it is completely optional whether they want to make an issue out of it on a case by case basis. They could also just give permission for this instance. If he was making money from it I can see how it would be an issue, was he charging for the game?

Quoting: titiUE4 game? I fear we will be disappointed again because of any kind of technical issues like "middleware" stopping the linux release.Unreal Tournament 4 has Linux support, in that it works natively in Linux.
I still want shadowarrior 2 so much which is another example of a not yet released linux UE4 game.
( I still hope the best especially because devolver digital and flyig wildhog were always very linux friendly !)
Are there many released UE4 games for linux yet?
I only found a UE4 game called "Steamroll" with linux support yet .

I think it is pretty clear they never even worked on it. All progress stopped once the new guy took over, he probably does not know Linux at all so they just started working on Windows projects exclusively.
