The rather engrossing roguelike 'Caves of Qud' is now on GOG & itch

Quoting: Luke_NukemThat doesn't sound like fun. Where's the joy in playing a massively huge randomly generated world full of fascinating stuff if you die within 5 minutes (by worm)?
well, if you like, there is option to turn off the permadeath, so you can save your progress, and then if you die, you can just load the last save and continue from there.

also, for those that hate the UI, the current default one will be replaced eventually, progress is going on, and can be already be tested in the options menu.. if will be more graphical, if you are into that, and have mouse controlled interface for inventory etc..

RPG roguelike 'The Enchanted Cave 2' just had a huge update
3 May 2018 at 11:44 am UTC

it's a nice one. i like nethackkiethings in all their forms, this has some unique feel to it. i don't have so much time anymore to spend on gaming, so these always work for me. 15 minutes of spare time, ok, let's loot some dungeons. and try not to die while doing it.

The RPG 'Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues' has released

it's a bit strange one this.. used to be playable, but on later updates it got worse and worse. shame really, I was looking forward to this, but the later test versions, it got unplayable for me. I'm not running the gamest of computers, but still.. this just doesn't work anymore at all, so had to skip it.. :(

Slime Rancher is another Unity game to have black screen problems on Linux, here's a temp fix
2 Mar 2018 at 2:41 pm UTC

yup, this is something I've seen on several unity games.
Nice to see that you are posting solution... people are suffering on this. and it can be hard find answers.
I myself, besides on slime rancher, have this also for example in CHKN. just blackscreen if I run it if I have different monitor settings than before.
I run a 3 screen setup, but not always, also, on varying resolutions. so it seems to confuse lot of these games on launch.

edit: as dunc said, it's well know problem. but I hope this help to people getting things running.

nice! my son will appreciate this I think.. I introduced him with openTTD while back, and he quite fast started killing everyone in that .. so maybe this could offer some more of a challenge.

The rather silly and quite good 'Crashlands' is now officially on Linux
19 Dec 2017 at 10:52 am UTC

i'm in a beta testing team with this too. mainly because it looked interesting, and it had that littlesomething that made me feel it's important to support...and have that on linux. there's quite not anything like it for linux..
i liked the people behind it, listened the podcasts and betatested away. after the first round, I bought a copy of it as a gift for my son.

and now with this new update, still loving in it..lot of things fixed after first round, some new bugs to report..

it's a looooot of grind, but somehow that doesn't feel like a job. I listen to music, podcasts, audiobooks and keep collecting things at the sametime :) i want to have it all. something in it just keeps pulling me back and discover more. it's one of those games I don't feel like seeing the end.
but it's huge, so I doubt I ever do that :)

The latest Steam Hardware Survey shows Linux market-share has declined again

it's a bit sad thing.. but for me, computer is mostly for other things than gaming.. and for the work that I do, Linux is way superior system, so that is why I am using it.. having games on it is just a plus.

maybe that has something to do with it for other people too.. I don't know, maybe gamers more are familiar in Windows environment, it usually comes with computer preinstalled, and if you are mostly just gaming, why would you bother to install Linux? I mean, you just launch Steam, and choose game and go.. it's same on both platforms.

@weirdlongstringofletters: me too.. I'm checking out unity from time to time, but still prefer godot...

edit: just tested it.. sort of like previous attempts, I managed 15 minutes and then out. not for me, but I can see the potential. godot, so much friendlier.
