DXVK is really impressive. What are the next milestones? I'd really like to see compatibility with vkd3d and implementations of the other D3D versions in wine by using a common dxgi.dll

I don't like software which I have to install by hand. Packages are much nicer to handle and easier to update. That's why we have them.

With the patch for radv (06d3c65098097675a34035da3043a71061fad17b) that was recently committed to mesa master which fixes the freezes with tw3 and gtav dxvk (#252) is pretty impressive.

IMHO the only advantage of UWP is that it asks devs to put more effort in optimizing their software for multi-core systems. I hope that Wine will support it at some time (but we all know that Microsoft will do everything they can to prevent that from happening any time soon).
And I hope that Nvidia starts doing the same to nouveau what AMD did to radeon … at least there is now a way to sign custom firmware images, which is usable for nouveau devs although it's primarily targeted at overclockers.
Hope dies last.

Depending on what performance you need, I recommend getting either a 580/570 8G or a RX Vega 56.
I have a Vega 64 in my machine and on Linux it scores somewhere around a 1080 Ti, sometimes even better, although I'm still using the crappy reference-design cooler.

Quoting: Chapo_RougeWould like to switch to AMD as well ! just have to find a proper deal before pulling the trigger. That's a very good choice :D I'm using AMD graphics cards for many years now and had only minor problems (and no problems at all since amdgpu was released).
