Seems to run well at first on my AMD 380X on Mesa git (well, git as of last week heh).
However as soon as I open the first door in the apartment complex, the screen goes black. If I stay just inside the door and look out I can see the courtyard thingy where the birds are, but as soon as I edge through the door the whole screen goes black as if there's zero lighting :<

Vulkan performance for me with a 380X (Mesa 17-git, AMDGPU) is a bit of an odd one. FPS is higher and more consistent than OpenGL (60-55 most of the time with Vsync, as opposed to anywhere from 45 to 50) but it *feels* like there's more frame lag when fighting enemies and when dust is on screen etc.

I too will put in to Patreon when my real life monetary situation improves. I run two of my own websites, though they aren't any of the same amount of work or cost as GoL, but I have to keep them running while taking everything else into account.
GoL is undoubtedly one of the best gaming resources for Linux out there and very much worth supporting.

EDIT: Okay, pressing Alt+Enter puts into windowed mode, where at least it can be dynamically resized with the window manager.

Quoting: GuestWoah! I loved Silver. Can't imagine that the gameplay have aged very well though...Nor the graphics, considering it defaults to fullscreen at my native res of 1080p haha. Haven't found the setting for setting res or windowed mode yet either...

Arch Linux has libGLEW2.0 as opposed to libGLEW1.13, so I too encountered that problem (of libGLEW1.13 being missing).
I'm sure someone will say this isn't quite the proper way to do things, but I got the game running by symlinking libGLEW.2.0 to libGLEW1.13

sudo ln -s /usr/lib32/libGLEW.so.2.0 /usr/lib32/libGLEW.so.1.13

At first a part of me was like, damn, not the true native port I was hoping.
But then I remember some of the VP titles like Bioshock: Infinite which was such a good port I forgot it was even a eON title and it ran superbly even on my Optimus laptop with Bumblebee at the time. Great to have more games anyway, especially titles from Codemasters.
