But running an AMD 380X myself on open source drivers, I've had very little complaints and generally good performance even in games that supposedly aren't supported with Mesa. There are some exceptions though (looking at YOU, Deus Ex: MD).

What a gorgeous and fun little game!
Maybe it seems sad, but the kid in me is pretty delighted with this. Lol.
It's working well for me with Mesa 17-git, AMD 380X GPU. Also my XBox 360 controller works just fine too, though I do use the steam-xpad module (installed from AUR on Arch) instead of the default one, if that makes any difference.

I personally tried doing a Linux news site myself once, but my personal time and ability to keep up with news properly impaired it, so it sort of became a sort-of news site, more like a bit of everything site/blog with some tutorials and game reviews and such thrown in lol.
If you can do it though and even have some other contributors on standby as well, as I imagine you probably do thanks to GOL, you can always have a go at a new one. All power to you I say.

My limited experience with the PRO driver was anything but a smooth experience. The only game that slightly improved was Deus Ex. I quickly ran back to Mesa haha. I don't mind compiling the latest version though, I often check the Mesa git page for new features like a kid in a candy shop.
The Talos Principle has another stable build with Vulkan improvements, much better than OpenGL

Tried it on an AMD R9 380X here on Mesa 17.1-git.
The improvement is indeed impressive. While it's not the same improvement as the prop. NVIDIA tests, before Vulkan ran a fair bit worse than OpenGL, whereas now it's hard to split them, both averaging somewhere around 45FPS (not a proper benchmark, just my casual testing with the FPS counter on). Though Vulkan seems to be a bit more consistent in average FPS I believe.
Regardless, it's much nicer to play under the Vulkan renderer now on ultra graphics @ 1080p.

Still on 4.10 in terms of kernels though so I guess performance won't yet be all that different.

This game will be interesting on my system.
I run latest Mesa git, have an AMD 380X GPU. 16GB RAM. So no probs there.
But my CPU is Intel Pentium G4560 (Kaby Lake), so I guess the equivelent-ish of a Core i3.

The area where Jensen's apartment is, the FPS is pretty good even on Ultra details for me. But if I take the train to the next area, the game is pretty much unplayable even on Low. Lol.
I'd love to know what specifically in the game in certain areas is causing the amdgpu driver to spaz out, but there's not much info I can find on it. And I don't have the know-how on tracing it.
It's the only game I'm having any trouble with though. Everything else I throw at my 380X it handles no problem, often on max details @ 1080p. With open source drivers no less, that's pretty impressive to me.
