The note in this did get me to update my PC info. I had switched from KDE to Cinnamon and Proprietary graphics drivers to open source since I last updated my stats.

The 'SMACH Z' gaming handheld is back on Kickstarter, no longer using SteamOS but their own Linux version

For the kind of games I play, it'll probably be just fine. The price though is a bit steep compared to my current portable system, the PSVita. Though, I don't know if Sony will be releasing another portable console, so this may be my only chance to do pocketable gaming in the future. (Since the NX probably will be too big to pocket.)

AMD Zen looks like it will release at CES in January 2017

I currently have two systems, my Phenom IIx6 1090t running Linux, and an A10-7850k running windows. Hoping to buy a Zen system and merge the two. Depends on if the zen box can properly handle GPU passthrough though to run Windows with a GPU in a VM.

Have you tried 'Life of Pixel'? A very cool love letter to retro gaming

Why yes, I finished this over on the Playstation Vita. I enjoyed it at the time.

I still buy from Humble, but I have never bothered with their monthly pack. No guarantee of Linux games in the pack at all. I just pick and choose the weekly and indie bundle packs that have linux games that I want, and crank all the windows-only games down to 0 in the tip distributor.

The AMD RX 480 seems to have power issues you may want to be aware of

Another point of view for this is the adoredtv video about it. He points out that even though the average Watts is a little higher than other cards, many cards have significantly higher spikes in consumption with a lower average usage and that this is a common problem throughout the industry. Also, these high averages only occur with resolution, game, and quality settings that you would never run in real life because they're basically a slide show. Additionally a prior video notes that the best efficiency of power to performance on the card is when you set it to -20% power consumption. The new wattman software has fairly fine gained control of the power consumption at various temperatures and clock speeds so under clocking it just in these torture tests in software to prevent the problem should be easy with minimal performance drops in normal operation.

Love this game. I already finished it on Vita, but it was my #2 game for all of 2014, behind the first game in the series.

It's been a long time since I've seen a chair like the one on the right there. Maybe as much as 25 years. Where did you get it?

Quoting: lidstahMine's really messy right now (a truckload of work), and as it's Saturday, will be cleaned later this afternoon. Sorry for the potato phone camera quality…

That's a bit like my work desktop. Two 2048x1152 monitors in portrait mode for editing source code with a 2560x1440 on the left for references.

Ok, fine... I won't clean my computer center before taking the picture.

You can't see the chair part, but the desk is an Obutto Ozone. I use the steering wheel mount for the bottom monitor, and the triple monitor mount for the top 3. Left monitor is dedicated to the windows system, but it's shut down right now. Right monitor can either be windows or raspberry pi. Middle top is either the linux box, or windows. Bottom monitor is either linux or my various game systems. Right now it's in my typical use mode with both center monitors on Linux. The monitors are all 23 or 24 inch, aside from the 4:3 17" on the right. All of them are pretty cheap.

You can see the windows box (A10-7850k+R7-360, bottom) Linux box (PhenomIIx6+GTX580 top) and Raspberry Pi 3 between the two, a bit on the right side. All the game systems are on a TV stand behind the computers.

I have my passive mixer and headphone amp to the left of the Tesoro Tizona mechanical keyboard. It's really nice to be able to hear alerts from all 3 systems + whatever game system is active on one set of headphones.
