Speculation: porting studio Feral Interactive could be in some trouble (updated: they're fine)

They currently aren't making any games for people that prefer their privacy to playing games. Seems weird to think that them distributing on more platforms would be bad for consumers.

Quoting: DrakkerI have been playing it on and off for so long now, I can't honestly remember. I do know that they are testing the alpha of the newest release, which updates the engine and looks significantly better. They have a developer blog and youtube channel that shows off the visual differences and modeling improvements. I'm excited for it, just because it will be a major change to play a game that looks like it's from 2013 instead of 1999.Quoting: JJNovaI have been bouncing back and forth between Urban Terror and Deponia. I bought all of the Deponia games years ago for a few bucks each, and just started going through my backlog.Wow Urban Terror, I played so much of this game in the past. I lost interest when they did the major rework, took forever. Is it back to being as good as it was before?
Urban Terror on the other hand, is always installed and ready to go at a moments notice. I'm quite excited for the next release and hope it happens in 2020.

There are active servers at all times of day. After starting it up, click on "Play Online" and then at the bottom left you can click on "Get New List". I sort by players so I can see which ones have the most people on them, but occasionally I sort by ping just so I'm not at a major disadvantage.

Quoting: GuestAny advice on finding active servers/times? After a 4-5 years break i recently installed it again, and found the servers dead by comparison. I'm quite excited for the new game too, but i kind of don't believe they make the new release anytime soon, due to the weird development model they are using, where even as they are making a free game and a for profit one they do not open their project up.I don't know anything about their for-profit game. I have seen their updates for Urban Terror 5, but I've stopped expecting it anytime soon. They are currently doing alpha tests on it with community members.

Oh cool, an update for a game that only exists because the developers ripped off their backers and never delivered the product on the platform it was funded for. No refunds and radio silence.
Yeah, I remember them. I hope their studio catches on fire and they all find jobs in a new field.

@Feral ,
If you guys make it here to page 6 of the comments. Please release your games on a platform that isn't Steam.
I would have bought it if it was on GoG or Humble Store.
Thanks.

Make sure you play 'Gone Home' this weekend, as it's free for a short time

I'm one of those people that wanted a refund because Gone Home doesn't meet any qualifications for being a game (there are no puzzles, no challenges, no enemies, no skill required). It's similar to Dear Esther, without as much of an environment or interesting story.
It's worth checking out for free, that way you can see if walking simulators are your style. If you play Gone Home and think that it's weak, but you like the animated storybook experience, there are other games that take that concept and do it much better. So if nothing else, you'll learn if this type of thing is or isn't for you. Best to keep your expectations pretty low for this though, as Gone Home is essentially a college assignment you turn in to show that you can make the camera move around an environment.

Quoting: GuestGreat, although short, game. Loved the story and the surprising twist at the end!Just a heads up for others, a lot of people didn't find the ending to be a twist. I'm thinking it would be more of a twist if you don't take the time to interact with the environment. There is backstory in the items you pick up to observe that will most likely give the ending away pretty early in the experience.

I've still got fingers grossed that this game gets a GOG or Humble release. Been eyeing it since before release. I'm one of those people without Steam, so when I get my chance to play it, no one will be talking about it anymore.
