Quoting: scaineI'd love to get into these games, but the AI just does my head in. Rimworld, Prison Architect, Oxygen Not Included, Rise to Ruins, man I've tried a lot of these, and they all have one problem - I'm not a very good god. Every single time, I get to some stage of the gameplay and I need one thing done immediately, or the colony will fail. One thing, or you all die. Stop what you're doing, and do this one thing. The thing is priority 9, chopping trees is priority 1. Why are you still chopping trees? And... you're dead. And that guy inside, cooking? He's dead. That clone running out of oxygen over there? Yep, dead.

I don't get why AI in these games is so frustrating. But it is, so I kind of gave up on them.
LOL, you are so right!! I can't speak for all, but in RimWorld, the early/mid game is totally this! I also tend to think of it as the most difficult/challenging part of the game because the colony is so fragile. Once you get past it, the have difficulty goes way down because the colony is so resilient.

Quoting: denyasisProlly the same one I have: the Extreme Pro 3D (something like that). Funny for me, the game wouldn't detect it native, but did just fine using proton.

I'm partial to using that old stick, mostly cause it's what I played X2 on when it came out, lol.
I didn't want to touch it until I had vacuum with dust brush in hand (couldn't even see the logo on it), but I got it out and indeed, that's what it is, "Extreme 3D Pro". I don't remember if I ever plugged that in on Linux. I'll have to check my kernel config.

I now remember why I bought it, years ago I wanted to try a racing game "Burnout Paradise" with a joystick (I used to use them in the 90's) and it didn't work out so well, a game pad type like XBox 360 was better.

But this is an actual flight game.

All I need is joydev for USB sticks, any other logitech joystick drivers are for game port.

P.P.S.

IS working (button presses and axes registering in test apps) but not recognized in this game and there's no compatible profile defined. I can't get a peep out of it in game.
I had the exact same problem. I know for a fact the stick works in Linux having played other games, so I'm thinking it's the game. I ended up paying using proton and the stick works out of the box with one noticable "bug". In game, in menus, the throttle is also translated as the X-axis for the mouse...

But other than that it works fine!

PS. - what was your udev rule you added? I'm curious.

Quoting: GroganNow that you mention it, I also have a flight stick sitting in the corner, collecting dust. It probably works, it's an older logitech. I can't even remember why I bought it or when or if I ever used it.

The Last of Us now Unsupported on Steam Deck, bad look for Valve and Naughty Dog

Quoting: MaathI don't blame Valve. I bet they took it on Naughty Dog's word that it was working.

It is likely that the promotional video was created by some graphics artist from various footage, and doubtful it even came directly from a Steam Deck. I mean, why capture from the Steam Deck in order to provide exact visuals when you can just take it from a PC. It's nice when you can do it but to save time I'm sure they skip that step.
In that case I would blame Valve. As Liam pointed out, the picture of it is running on a Steam Deck. So yeah, either it's fake, like you mentioned, which is a problem with Valve not being truthful to it's consumers or it is a shot from a Deck, which is a problem as Valve would known it didn't work much earlier but still encouraged sales.

Simulating the screen image for a PR campaign on the Deck is one thing, but when you do it you're implying the game is going to work on on the Deck... That's the problem.

Either way, I'm glad, Valve marked it unsupported, but it's still pretty sketchy they did it after initial release sales. As pointed out earlier in the comments, this isn't the first time Valve has done this with a hyped up game.
Yeah makes you wonder how Valves Steam Deck verification process is setup. Can a big publisher just pinky swear everything is golden thus skipping all the testing?
There's an earlier article about it, but basically, there's no requirement that a dev or publisher put it through the process although Valve might do it on their own. From the article above, the publisher/dev hadn't submitted it yet.

Quoting: TheRiddickIt's a decent game, certainly brings the arcade feel to the sandbox game world.
I sometimes play it but ultimately the gameplay can feel a bit sterile at times.
This. I ended up playing the story line and then stopping. There just wasn't enough to keep me engaged from an exploration point of view.

Kinda amusing their note about verification but Valve ran it through anyway
Lol. But that's on Valve for doing it, but, it's probably smart of Valve to take it out of the devs hands. Now Valve has a shield against complaints "Look it's unsupported, go harass the dev if you want it to work!!"

I will say, you are right in that Valve was kinda stupid too. If your gonna use something in your promo material, you should probably make sure it works in the first place.

Hopefully they work together to make it not sink on the Deck.

oOoOO, I see Skyrim is on sale for 10$. That's pretty tempting, especially DRm free.

Seems like it might work well with mods, too. At least from what the forums seem to indicate!

I've used it a while ago for the free month of Everspace back in September of 22.

It worked out of the box on Chrome. No issues. I did have to stream in 720 instead of 1080, but that was more a limitation of my laptop and WiFi.

I haven't really used it since as the free games aren't really what I'm into.

But the technology part and the streaming is just fine. Worked better than Steam's remote play (at the time, RP has gotten better that they are pretty much on par).

I will say I've only tried it because it is free (I've stopped buying games for the time being). But I can see the appeal of the subscription service; especially if you play a lot and are constantly wanting something new or some variety.
