Ubuntu 16.04 dropping the AMD Catalyst/fglrx driver

Quoting: ripperI'm pretty happy with my Radeon R9 270 running the opensource driver. The situation is not perfect, and yes, some games don't run or have issues, but the situation has improved sharply in the last 2 years, and I can now play the majority of my titles (including some AAA ones) quite fine. See my profile on OpenGameBenchmarks:

As long as I have access to Windows in dual-boot, I'd never pick Nvidia. Nvidia driver is too much pain overall (not to mention that it's also the most aggressive, unlikeable, and opensource unfriendly company out there). Radeon driver just works, most games work fine, and for the few ones that don't, I reboot and play in Windows. And AMD needs some support for moving things in the right direction.
Ha! I didn't know Witcher 2 or XCOM run so well with the open source driver! Your card is pretty decent, too!

Nice profile you have there!

I hope that the performance won't be as abysmal as in Trine 3 :D But this looks very promising!

Topware said they will Wine wrap their games for OSX and Linux some time ago. They did so for OSX already, so it is time for Linux :) I'll be glad to repurchase Jagged Alliance 2 Wildfire, Septerra Core or Jack Orlando :)

SUPERHOT, the stylish time-bending shooter will release this month, new trailer too

Worth it for Insurgency alone :) Unepic is one of my favorite games ever too, so I cannot recommend it enough :)

Quoting: TealAww yeah.

An amazing game for anybody who feels like they aren't yet entirely bitter and numb to the world around them.

I already finished it under wine.

I guess I will buy it for a Linux friend who hasn't played it yet to make up for it
Yeah, same here! Would recommend to anyone!

Like in 2015, still lots of DOTA and lots of Insurgency. Recently picked up the great adventure game named The Raven, by KingArt studio.

The open source Itch games store app needs translators

One reason I used to love Desura so much was their open source app, although that turned sour due to licensing changes for contributors, and now Desura is bankrupt so Itch.io is now my favourite smaller store.
I can also recommend IndieGameStand, no desktop client, but a nice alternative supporting Linux from the very beginning.

That said, I like itch.io as well :)
