I'll have a test of it tonight. See the new stuff and check whether they fixed some of my main annoyances.

I love the game but I keep wishing for a renewable energy source option, or coal/oil sources that are endless. Moving and rebuilding critical systems over large distances is super tedious to meWhy would you? Just leave power where it is. As you say, it is infinite so once built it never needs to be touched. And with the new(ish) power towers, you can easily connect power to the whole map.

I think the anti-cheat only whitelisting Steam Deck will become worse. Especially when it's not added to prevent cheating, but to protect the microtransaction business as it seems to be the case with this one. In any case, it won't bother me with this one. I made it about a third into the trailer before I decided that I'm definitely not the target audience.

We are going to create a game industry that works for us, one that nourishes its talent and invests in its future, rather than constantly seeking short-term profits. That's not really the goal of most investors in the current game industry. They want the steepest upward line and don't care about the corpses it leaves in their wake. I wonder if this might actually lead to even more departures from the US. I'd be nice if the industry could be satisfied with more sensible growth strategies, but I'm not too hopeful.

I want the separation. That answer makes it even more confusing. What separation? If you don't enable the toggle, you can't use Proton except for a few titles in a long forgotten white list. It'd effectively be a way to disable non-native titles. Which is something I could see the use of, but then it needs a rename.

The second one is definitely useful, the first one is not since everyone has it permanently ticked on anyway.

It's a mistake to remove the "Steam Play" toggle for desktop clients, but it should be enabled by default with the current latest Proton as a specific optionIt sounds like your mixing up the "Enable Steam Play for all titles" with the "Force a specific ..." toggle.

Since 565 I seem to have issues with certain Unity games. White flashes that appear to be related to UI elements. Initially, I thought it was a game bug since I encountered it in one game specifically. But I've since seen minor versions in other games. Always Unity though. I should really test if 570 fixes this.

Ok, had a good laugh for half an hour. Completely unplayable on a 2080 Ti, but that's ok since it's below the minimum spec. Got 30 fps with DLSS ultra performance and 10 fps with DLSS quality while running on 3440x1440.
I'd at least expect DLSS quality to look somewhat good despite the low fps, but it really doesn't. Everything is grainy. Lots of smearing and edge artefacts. Basic things you'd expect with upscaling, but much worse.
As for the assets, it's kind of weird. I got this weird uncanny valley experience from it. Sure a lot (not all of it) is more detailed, but it never seems to fit in context of the level. I guess my brain is expecting the assets to match the level design and it doesn't. I guess I should have expected this since I have the same issue with mods that do similar things.
As Liam mentioned. Everything feels overly bright and washed out. To a level that I'm wondering if this thing my require HDR to be viewed properly.
Unplayable as expected, but I expected a better visuals like Portal RTX. Maybe that game was just better suited for the ray tracing treatment.

So, downloading 50 GB to test this thing on a setup that's below the minimum spec. Could be fun I guess.

This brings me back to the first time I ever installed Linux. Probably around 1993 since the idea of Doom on Linux was definitely not a thing. No distro, just a 3.5" boot disk image and a 30-40 MB .tar.gz file and a text instruction on how to get it all on a booting partition. Linux improved really quickly in the years ahead. Never heard of Jetpack though.
